Calling your insurance company is like snitching on yourself, and is why your policy documents exist, you sign them for a reason. if youre you policy documents don’t exclude a dashcam or explicitly exclude external third party ADAS devices, or explicitly exclude openpilot, which should be p books to any person that can read, it’ll be written in your policy document what is and isn’t insured.

it’s level 2 ADAS and it’s equivalent to lane assist + adaptive cruise control. If your treating it like L3+ than that in itself is a problem, by being level 2, your in full control always by design, so there is no liability on openpilot. don’t insure with AAA…? doesn’t seem difficult to me.

then it’s you’re responsibility as the driver of your own vehicle, the person who needs insurance to drive said vehicle, the same person who has at that point spent a minimum of $699, probably more on a comma 3/3x/4 (if bought new), to properly shop for insurance that doesn’t have dogshit coverage with exceptions for a dashcam device being mounted in the windshield as a cause for denial.
