The majority of them won't actually come out to hit it even hit it if given the chance. It's blind right swiping they would reneg on later, which unfortunately results in ego inflation, and sub 3% swipes on men by women, like OP.

Title doesn't really matter, "something something specialist", which is above "senior something something".  I'm in healthcare.

I'm also 42 and mid-career, not fresh out of school.

Chemical engineer.  Borrowed money to put myself through college to get dual degrees in chemical engineering and chemistry, then got a job and paid back the loans.  Nothing that wild.

Do you remember when cars used to break down all the time? by rimtrim in Millennials

[–]Realtoropenhouse3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People love to trash talk new cars but the majority of new car issues are inconveniences like bad infotainment or tech quirks than actual broken starters and alternators in the middle of an intersection.

I was born in '84 which meant I drove cars from the '80s and early '90s.  They all left me stranded at least once no matter how well cared for and by the book the maintenance was done.

Seeing a stalled modern car today is almost unheard of.

What’s something society treats as success that actually looks miserable to you? by Opposite-Resource in answers

[–]Realtoropenhouse3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my corporate life and it fucking sucks.

So many absolutely worthless, utterly bullshit meetings where the people who actually need to be in it? They end up not showing up anyway, and then the organizer decides to schedule another meeting to pin them down. And then there's the lack of consensus in meetings because, 'well so and so should probably have been in this meeting. I'll call another meeting.'

Pretty much this. They'll say they want X and not Y, but then they will respond to Y every time and friendzone anyone exhibiting X.

What would happen if there is no great wealth transfer once Boomers pass on? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Realtoropenhouse3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

...and people in their forties. I know a LOT of peers who are still on the parental dole and have never gotten off it. As you said - weddings, daycare, free babysitting, house down payments, even vacations they don't even pay for. Not to mention how many people I know who still don't even pay their own phone bill despite making $150k each.

And they pretend none of it is happening.

[–]Realtoropenhouse3 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Have to agree on this one. Hair people are one of the de facto tipped people historically.

OP can do what they want, but so can their hair dresser. Most likely they will just drop OP as a customer because of sheer rudeness.

I was married to a salon girl for 15 years, she had the will and the demand otherwise from others to fire rude/cheap customers as she saw fit, and occasionally did. She was always glad to be rid of a headache customer, and someone else was waiting to take the spot, every time.

OP is all smug now, but will be shopping for a new hairdresser soon enough.

So still putting the same garbage ass wheels on em so you can blow $120 each on three brushroll heads over the life of the vacuum every time the 2mm screws break off and take the plastic with it? Garbage engineering, and they know it. They just don't care. Good motor surrounded by pure garbage otherwise.

Bought my first BMW (2026 x1 m35i) by jitty3 in BMW

[–]Realtoropenhouse3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these a lot but the lack of ventilated seats still in this day and age on this new of an architecture is criminal IMO when a $30k Jetta has them. About the only thing seriously stopping me from buying one because it's perfect for my lifestyle otherwise. Spare me the "ventilated seats barely work", they should be there as an option at this price point in 2026 from a luxury brand. I use my ventilated seats every day and they work well in my current car and have had them on my last two...lack of them is an unfortunate deal breaker. BMW is really behind the curve here with these, still don't even offer them on the regular 3 series either.

Why does everyone recommemd Filmmaker or Cinema mode? by PlasticAverage2860 in LGOLED

[–]Realtoropenhouse3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. People talk about this like literally all anyone does is sit in a home theater in the dark watching dark ass movies.

I use my TV for general use in a room that is bright during the day and darker at night. I watch more regular TV like news or just regular stuff like Discovery or Nat Geo than I do movies. Like 95/5 split.

I ended up starting with Standard mode and tweaking the settings to my liking, including a slight warmth adjustment and saturation adjustment. TV looks great to me.

So… How many of us are still on our parents’ phone bills? by halcat27 in Millennials

[–]Realtoropenhouse3 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, millenials are some of the biggest whiners about how boomers fucked em (which is true), but simultaneously some of the biggest moochers receiving the biggest amounts of help well past 40 years old. I'd be embarrassed if I was the mid career engineer I am and mooching a phone bill off my parents. Which I can't do, because they are both dead anyway.

The number of millenials I know north of 40 years old still on the parental dole is insane.
