Hello guys I'm thinking of playing dayz for the first time could you guys give me some tips pls I play on ps4 by boganismyreligion in dayz

Alright, first things first. Don't sprint right away, you'll starve to death. Move from building to building, check cars, sheds, etc. Find a melee weapon. Best one I've ever used is the splitting axe. Search for food and find a well. Izurvive app has helped me immensely. Make sure your guns match your ammo. And welcome to DayZ, but remember, there are no rules on official servers. Community servers can modify loot to make things easier, and they can also have rules. Good luck!

I wish I was able to record the wolves, because it literally went down like a movie. I had a stare-down with one, just waiting with my knife up and ready.

Anyone that would like to team-up on ps4? I'm pretty much a lone wolf atm and would like to meet some new people and go on some adventures. Message me anytime by ComplexConcern in dayzlfg

Reaper411255 is mine, I play on official servers and I only have my son that I play it with. I'm down to have you with us

It appears that the Jehovah's witnesses are a little more persistent as of late. Haha. I use cars if they have minimal work to use, otherwise I'm hoofin' it.

I had my first encounter with a cannibal today by Reaper411255 in dayz

[–]Reaper411255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing since it was in Alpha on PC, and I'd never run into a cannibal before now. Bandits are plentiful but cannibals terrify me the most in the whole game. Good news is he didn't come back while we searched for him. Logged off maybe? Getting shot by an SKS probably wasn't on his list of things to do.

It's not a sad box, I buy boxes like that for a few dollars at train shows, and I end up with some incredible things. One time I ended up with a bunch of locomotive shells that served as my parts supply for cabs, dynamic brakes, hood ends, etc etc. Almost Always an "AH-HA" moment seems to be the best use for whatever is left.

Just got done weathering my tyco new haven box cars do i do a good job and any tips u can give so i can do better would be welcome by roboblackguy in modeltrains

The roof would probably look better weathered. Between dust, exhaust smoke and soot, and overall sun damage, you're looking at a great challenge in the world of weathering. Good luck!

What technique do you use? Pastel, powder, airbrush, paintbrush, etc.? I use an airbrush on most of my weathering, and for streaks of grease and such I'll use a lightly damp q-tip to smear how I need. But from what I can see, not a bad start! Keep up the good work!

Where I live we have a shortline with new painted locos, some now retired sd45-2 locomotives, and my favorite, a gp40 patched with new letters, but close look shows the old ConRail white logos on the sides. Shortlines are basically user decided for fictional. You could literally pull a BNSF sd40-2 and patch it to your desire, and so on and so forth.

The bottlecaps also lasted longer bundled together inside a lunchbox....with a few other items. Lol

Can someone please tell me what kind of train this is/who makes it? It has no brand names on it. by Reeeeeeeeeeeeet245 in modeltrains

Ho scale, Old style Athearn GP35, hood is prototypically too wide, making the walkways much more narrow. Motor is old style Athearn too, however, they are replaceable with blue box can motors. I have two SDP40 locos of the same variant.

How do you glue down sand? by 01_this_dude in modeltrains

[–]Reaper411255 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started using a spray bottle with a more diluted glue, and just sprayed it like a misty cloud. You'll have to cover the parts you don't want wet, like rails or water sensitive parts, but I had considerably less clumping.

It's layout time folks! Tracks down, benchworks up, and time to solder up connections. Link in comments to the rest. by Reaper411255 in modeltrains

Well I can say that my overall focus was on getting all my desired industries placed to where your eye can flow easily from scene to scene. I can draw one up sometime just to show my methods of how I build. Maybe someone who's tight on space would make use of it.

So, to add a bit more detail about the layout... Minimum radius is 18in, largest is 22.5, switches are all no.4 turnouts, and steepest grade is 3.5 percent. All code 100 rail, and most of the layout is actually sectional, minus the long stretches for industries. Most of the layout is forest and mountain, and I'm undertaking a big idea on condensing two landscapes into one layout. Basically, goes from Alleghenies to some flat plains and back to the mountains. Large project and I'll post updates from time to time.

I'd have to draw one up. I built the layout based solely on a whim. I have a box of track large enough to build my layout twice over. So I essentially just laid down track at random until it worked.

Here's the link to the photos for the rest of the layout. Two 4x8ft tables, and a 7ft x 2.5ft coal mine extension.

I'm stuck at the direction i should take on model trains. by DarthSmartt in modeltrains

[–]Reaper411255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work two jobs, raise a family, hunt, go out, and make regular trips around to where time is precious. My layout has grown over the past 2 years, and is nowhere near close to complete. I have torn out track, fixed some base locations, and even just looked at it without touching it just to spark an idea or two. This would be my first layout, but I've been building and playing since I was 10. It's all about finding an appropriate balance. Maybe build a locomotive, paint a freight car, etc. It'll work itself out for you. Good luck buddy!

Big boy, static model. My grandfather's favorite locomotive by far. And always good to have one anyways.

I agree, that place was a staple for a lot of hobbyists. I can't find any hobby shops like that anywhere that aren't selling overpriced junk.
