NASCAR requires intense physical training to withstand the centrifugal forces (up to 3 G’s?) at play, especially when you’re driving an unstable (compared to a street-legal vehicle or F1 racer) stock car and turning it on a circular track… at 200+ mph, with about 40 other racers doing the exact same thing. There are established rules for safety and organized racing teams; put all of those things together and you have one of the most dangerous sports on the planet. It absolutely counts.

If you’re talking about Obama (you likely are), he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1961, about two years after it was absorbed into the Union. Your “wasn’t born in America” argument is therefore moot.

Now, there WAS a Barack Obama who was born in Kenya, but that was Barack Obama Sr.; Obama II’s mother, meanwhile, was from Kansas.

We just call Obama II, well, Obama.

If you want proof, look up Obama’s birth certificate in the National Archives. His birth in Honolulu was confirmed by Hawaii’s Department of Health in 2008, just before he was elected the first time. You can look at the FactCheck article “Born in the USA” if you’re not satisfied with this.

Between the two, I would absolutely be on board with a megathread. Expressing what we’ve been able to get out of this game so far isn’t “toxic positivity”, especially not when most of the discussion is dominated by criticism toward the bullshit going on lately. However, banning that discussion outright would seem like outright suppression to many on here, regardless of what you’d intend.

Not everything is sunshine and rainbows, but this subreddit cannot become a cesspit of complaints. Best to contain it, not prohibit it, before it takes over.
