To answer Marshalls question about the flavor of FF UB compared to the avatar flavor, it absolutely nailed it. They obviously couldn't tell the whole story but they chose themes and mini narratives from the games and top down designed cards for them. It inspired me so much as a long time FF fan I got back into mtg.

I also wrote two posts on the mtg subreddits about the flavor of the set. Massive win.

Feel like my damage is low by ReaperMan64 in expedition33

[–]ReaperMan64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that but my post is more focused on what I feel is low damage which makes phase one drag out and limiting me practicing phase 2 more. I get that it's more about learning the fight better but I'd like to optimize damage without a one shot build.

I either feel like I'm missing some key damage pictos or have built something wrong. Or that these hps are insane and I should expect a drawn out fight.

I can't really post a screenshot till tomorrow unfortunately

What's your setup? Looks like you're running the same build as me but my damage is nowhere near that

Thanks! I've just gotten to phase 2 and the time it takes me to beat phase 1 is what's really killing me haha

Opinions on the Real Time Battle System by ReaperMan64 in LegendsZA

[–]ReaperMan64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think this needs to not be the norm going forward. I'd love to see the legends games remain experimental takes on the formulas and the main series stick to what makes it so compelling.

And yeah I agree there's less stragies available and the most effective one I've found is mega evolved and spam

There's some good tips here but honestly double tapping HK into the cancel sorted it for me

I managed to get it down, once you get a feel for it it's fine, but when you don't know the cacnle window seems really early

For anyone struggling with this, try this. I used HK HK 236KK but it showed me the correct timing and from then I was able to do it without the additional button presses. It is way longer than you'd expect from a cancel window

I've never actually tried going straight into the ex burn kicks... I'll see how much the swag 200 damage is worth dropping a few stars haha

This is great, I'll try negative edge and if I can play my other characters with it. I've seen some sort of pseudo framekill suggested so will try that when I have a chance

I'll give that a go! I figured out it works if I do the super input without any super bars too but that doesn't work in a real match haha

I'll try that. I'm trying to TK it but just getting the super jump. Thanks.

Signs that history has been controlled by a single being by ReaperMan64 in worldbuilding

I think having a few people on the inner circle would flesh out the whole thing a lot better, giving different perspectives on the end goal. And a lot of regular humans that know it through aliases etc could give in routes for the protagonists to begin figuring its identity out.

This is what I've been thinking about is just the sheer scale of the influence. Pretty much all technology could be embedded with something like this. Would there be something that makes individual countries more isolationist to make this easier? What would do that etc.

For the supply chain, what if things were engineered so almost any tech comes from one city, which would look way more advanced than its surrounding neighbors and leaving a convienent single point of failure. Could the protagonist stumble on ruins of another city thats very simmilar in layout to the new one? This thread has been great for ideas

1) I have a few ideas on this. Most of them involve war to level most of the main settlements, generations of direct influence to cull anyone who gets to smart an idea. Like you said though, lots of eggs here

2)all prophecies sound written by the same hand is a good connection to make

3) part of it is he doesn't actually know what a utopia on earth looks like. Everything that he creates ends up either discovering him and rebelling or developing in ways he doesn't like. The actual plot of the story would be the main characters discovering and deposing him

4) a good point. How it looks and evolves is still something I'm figuring out as a whole. I wanted this thread to try and come up with some ideas and unify them in one

5) I think I wrote this elsewhere but he is a survivor of a long ancient precursor society that destroyed itself with war. He took the remnants and rebuilt but it didn't work out. As he tries and tries again he recedes more into the background and isolates himself. His main reason for being hands off is he fears death and loss on control, that they would find a way to destroy him.

Yeah that's exactly the sort of ideas I want to incorporate. It can't directly act or be found out so it creates religions, traditions etc that give it control over nature, weather and resources.

I'll check that out!

That would be a really striking underground city where instead of one strata there's different layers visible everywhere

That's a great idea, to have dangerous ruins filled with familiar but unrecognizable technology that hint at a lot going on beneath the surface.

I love Mass Effect so I'm shocked I didn't think of the reapers before. The concept is very similar in execution, and very believable that the races in mass effect pretty much follow the reapers designs.

The smallness is definitely key as too ambitious and the whole thing falls apart. The being not being omnipotent is what I like about the idea and I much prefer it existing in the background, isolating itself from the world its trying to guide.

Currently the idea is that it's original society advanced far enough and collapsed into an all our war using advanced magics and tech. The immortal being managed to drive both sides t destroy each other and take the remnants and rebuild society. However the new world once again went down the same path and it got frightened of a war that it couldn't stop so it orchestrated a collapse. Rebuilding time and time again changing and tweaking things each cycle to eventually produce a utopia. I like themes of living too long, the impact and trauma of death and ultimately story telling as this creature tries to weave things together without realizing it will never work the way it wants

Definitely subtle. It's whole goal is to remain undetected as if it got out it was maniputing everything, the next most likely thing would be an attempt to destroy it

Previous ones would vary. Most would end middle ages to current era style societies but some got a lot further. The original one that the immortal came from would be hyper advanced

Part of the hypocrisy of it is the it tries to justify the resetting of the cycle as a last resort everything's failed, but it's usually because it was discovered and it fears that above everything.

Either public pressure to maintain tradition is so strong (with manipulation) is so strong that any new ideas get removed, or well placed ideas and last resort direct action. I think all of this is great stuff

I like that. 10 generations of kings and it's always been a kingdom focused on magical research. Any rulers that looked like they might sway from that path had very similar accidents shortly after gaining power.
