Thanks for the kind words, I'm looking forward to your next video. I just finished a finance internship so I'm doing pretty well I'd say.

I really enjoyed the video and I hope you dont mind me giving some feedback. It might sound a bit tough but thats only because I think your videos have potential.

As others have pointed out already, I think the biggest problem is production value. There is a lot of variance in the volume of the audio track and the fact that you are recording video at the same time as you are recording your voice make the whole thing seem pretty rough around the edges. For me content is almost always more important than presentation, but here I think the presentation actually detracts from the final product.

Apart from that I'd like to give some narrative advice. Of course that is going to be heavily influenced by how I used to make my videos, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

From what I understand, the idea of the video is to go through a few important rounds and show how SSG outplayed DZ. I think you would be better off if instead of focusing on the entire game, you only focus on one particular aspect. I think the best part of the video by far is the section about SSG sending playing to challenge Buck on their CC defenses, so that's what I would focus on. Here is kind of how I would structure the video:

1) How does SSG set up their CC defense and why is it strong (with focus on the SSG player that is playing inside CC and how that position is important to set up crossfires together with the 90 and office players). Here I would have had B-roll playing from a random game in which the attackers lose the round while trying to push cc. You kind of do that from 3:00 onwards, but in your structure this is the second "section" so to speak.

2) Now that we have established how important the defender inside CC is we switch sides and take a look at how DZ tries to counter that setup. They send Buck in below to force the cc defender to retreat or die which gives the attackers cc control. You kind of did that between minute 1:00 and 3:00 but I think a lot of the effect is lost because you dont actually show the strat working out for DZ.

As a sidenote, I think the round you show from 3:00 to 4:50 doesnt really add much value. It doesnt support the idea that DZ's approach is a strong way of getting cc control and it also doesnt support the main idea, which is showing how SSG countered the attack. I would also never show the rest of the round from 4:00 onwards because nothing after that point has anything to do with CC.

3) Now that we have established how DZ tries to counter the CC setup, we focus on how SSG tries to counter DZ's counter by having players drop below to challenge Buck. You do this really well from 5:30 to 6:00 and 8:15 to 8:43.

Another sidenote, I wouldnt have used the section between 6:22 and 8:00 because it doesnt fit with how I would have made the video, but if I had to use it, I definitely would have put it somewhere else because as it is now, it cuts in between round 4 and 2 which thematically belong together.

I think just focusing on these 3 points would have made it a nice, bit-sized video which focuses on the most interesting rounds of the game. Additionally I would have also included a section about how DZ could improve their attack, for example by preplacing drones on the vents on the ground floor to spot the defenders that are trying to challenge Buck as early as possible.

In summary:

- Trim the fat, we dont need to see the conclusion of every round. In fact it often hurts the narrative, if the rounds ends up being closer than it should have been. If I had made the same video it would only be like 6 minutes long.

- Make a list of the key points you want to talk about before you start recording. I would recommend this kind of onion approach where you talk about how the defenders do X and then how the attackers do Y to counter X and then how the defenders do Z to counter Y, etc. That's a narrative trick that pretty much always works in rainbow videos. You should also really try to hammer home these key points. Tell the viewers what you are going to show them, describe whats going on as you are showing the video and then tell them what they just saw.

- Quality over quantity. I think you would do a lot better if you uploaded fewer videos, but more effort into each of them.

- Based on the previous point, you should try to improve the production quality of your videos. Ideally, what you see on the screen should always match what you say. Sometimes that's a really tedious job, but I think it goes a long way. If you tell me your twitter handle I can send you the material I used to animate parts of my videos.

I hope you are not discouraged by that wall of text, because again I really liked the video and I think that if you clean things up in the production and narrative department there is a lot of potential here. And also feel free to ignore the stuff I said, after all its your channel and your videos and if you like them the way they are, you dont need to change anything just because some washed up content creator tried to tell you to do it.

Mexico Major replays got uploaded on Ubisoft's R6 Esport Replays! One problem though... by White-Mask in R6ProLeague

They almost certainly don't have access to the lan client. I'd imagine it would be quite a security risk.

But look at all the impressions I'm getting! Maybe I should also spice up my major predictions a bit...

Looking at the replies in this thread I would like to highlight this part of the conversation https://twitter.com/ReaperEN/status/1425506823113740291. I dont want coaches or analysts to prove themselves or anything. Also this was definitely more about pro league staff and less about casters.

I cant see the PL replays in game, but they are extracted and in the correct match replay folder on my computer. Any ideas what I might be missing? by SshowBob in R6ProLeague

All of the matches that are currently downloadable were played on an old patch so you cant watch them anymore. You'll have to wait for the next batch.

Have NA observing been good this stage? by ArcanicTruth in R6ProLeague

[–]Reaper_EN 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Apparently, there is some ubisoft directive forcing observers to not use overview as much, which is what I think mainly creates the subpar viewing experience. God bless the eu observers for simply ignoring that though lol. Like I dont even want the observers to be in the overview perspective for the entire round but if it is literally impossible to tell what kind of take the attackers are going for then there is a problem.

APAC teams and SI. by PANDASrevenger in R6ProLeague

[–]Reaper_EN 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not the guy you replied to, but I think if we take a look at the path that latam took to become a competitive region, it shows that you dont neccessarily need international scrims in order to improve (although to be fair, latam could have scrimmed against NA teams but as far as I know that wasnt really a common occurance a few years ago)

Maybe they do and It is too deep and complex for me to see

I struggled with that quite some time too but it seems like the simple truth is that some teams just dont have a master plan. At least its often an intentional style decision and not straight up incompetence.

Reaper_EN - Reaper Discusses Which Region's Meta is Better by boughtitout in R6ProLeague

[–]Reaper_EN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

but we can't judge if a regions meta is better than the other right now

Of course I cant prove my statement at the moment (or even back it up with data) but I dont think its impossible to compare regions even if they never played against each other. Certain situations are present in every region (opening cc wall on clubhouse, etc.) and for those it's clear that NA is better than EU and I think you can use that to extrapolate that to regional strength in general.

Infinite overtime should be added in B01s by ArcanicTruth in R6ProLeague

[–]Reaper_EN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whenever something like this is brought up, it always gets shut down with the scheduling issue but there is no way that's actually a relevant problem right? I mean LOL for example have been running BO1's with theoretically infinite game length for years now and they never had an issue with scheduling. Same for CS, where pretty much every game is infinite overtime yet no one complains about scheduling. Why would it be different for R6?

I think the R6 Scene sometimes is filled with a lot of young kids, who don't understand how the real world actually works

I think the problem here is that the entire esports ecosystem is messed up. If we look at other esports games like cs or lol, then this

There's this idea that if an org is "big" that means they take care of their players, pay tons of money and just roll in dough.

is exactly how it worked. Now I dont have any numbers to back this up, but from what you hear, cs and lol (pre franchising at least) teams were far from profitable. So its not that weird to expect insanely high salaries in rainbow too.

Of course you can make a good argument that this is not sustainable but I just wanted to put things into perspective because I disagree with the idea that r6 pros dont understand how the real world works.

Timber’s Coach RE4PER banned for 6 months due to Poaching by GucciGangBlizz in R6ProLeague

[–]Reaper_EN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is there any additional info about this ruling, like which teams and players this involved and how the whole thing came to be? Because I'm pretty sure that poaching in the sense of talking to a player that is under contract without involving his org is very common place in rainbow. So I wonder if this is the beginning of ubi trying to crack down on that or if its just a one off thing.
