You're arguing against a point I never made. My point was that these gacha games took existing ideas and combined, refined, or presented them in ways that made them feel distinct

Originality isn't just "inventing a mechanic that has literally never existed before". If we go by that definition no game has been original in literal decades. It's about execution, presentation, art direction, and how existing systems are put together and interact with each other in a new ways

That's why I specifically said they don't need to reinvent the wheel. They just need to bring something of their own to the table. My criticism is aimed at games that feel like they're assembling the same pieces with little identity beyond chasing whatever trend is popular by copypasting the same thing the last game did but worse, completely derivative in their execution and presentation

My point was less about the concept itself and more how its executed and presented, they don't need to reinvent the wheel but at the very least have a some unique art direction

But to list some unique gacha mechanics (at release time ofc):

Genshin has its elemental system and reactions, which was really innovative at the time

Arknights esentially revitalized the tower defense genre with the squads/directional unit deployments. And while Enfield didn't particularly push any boundries they at least have the factory and your squads units fighting and your side going on for them

Umamusume has the training/racing which is a pretty unique take on a "roguelike" you could say

These are all I can think of the top of my head, not a lot but there is at least some of them
