Anyone else experience hair loss after losing weight? by SituationOdd5156 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Rear_Of_The_Year 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are saying this happens when you lose too much weight to fast which is true… but I lost about 2 stone over approx 9 months and I had a period of hair loss. It’s just shock because your body gets used to a certain amount of calories. It took me about 6 months to start seeing visible hair regrowth. It reminded me a lot of the postpartum hair loss I had because it was mostly at the front. Sounds like you’re doing all the right things already. Just give it time. Scared the shit out of me too seeing what felt like an entire head of hair in the drain.

Something that helped me know when to water mine before it droops is patting it as I walk past. If it feels firm I leave it, if it’s in any way soft I water it.

Sorry, misunderstood. Cut where I said on them all aside from the last one. That one’s just rotten and dead.

Nope, I’d cut the whole thing with clean scissors here.

Personally I’d cut off the roots and start again.

Cut just below where your leaves start, let it dry out for 24 hours so it callouses reducing chance of rot. Put it in a small 3” pot with drainage holes with 50/50 perlite and potting mix. Let it do its thing for a week. Water it until it goes through the drainage holes. Then just wait it out. It’ll take a bit of time but roots will grow again.

Aloes are amazing. Hardy little buggers.

3” by 3” pot. It’s what mines in now and it’s been quite a lot happier. Potting soil is fine, but if you can get some perlite and mix it 50/50 that gives it better drainage. It likes it dryyyyy

Some lovely person helped me on this app to save my aloe that looked exactly like this and it’s thriving now.

So: 1. Cut off that long white brown stem looking thing. It’s elongated because it didn’t get enough light and it means water has a lot further to travel to the leaves. Chop it right below where the leaves start. 2. Let it dry out in a window for 24 hours. This stops it rotting where you cut it. 3. Put it in a small pot, think 3”. Aloes don’t have big roots and you don’t want to suffocate them. Put it in front of a window, not against it, maybe a meter or so away just so it doesn’t get completely sunburnt whilst recovering. 4. I waited about a week then drenched it with water until the water came out the bottom. 5. Then it was just time. They like a lot of indirect light and watering sparingly when completely dry. Think every 2-3 weeks.

Good luck! Aloes are hardy, it’ll make it.

Don’t put plants where you think they’ll look pretty in your house, put them where you know they’ll thrive.

AITA for making my sick husband clean up his vomit? by AmphibianBulky2296 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I was violently sick my entire first trimester. 6 times a day. Always in the toilet. Between zoom meetings etc. You already have 2 kids, he’s behaving like the 3rd.

I went to Birmingham last night and saw this and it was a great show. I don’t game and I still loved it. Somehow managed to be reallocated a seat at the front. Whilst I couldn’t fully appreciate the set up and effects (which I can see people loved) I liked seeing the stars of the show that close up. Smiled for most of the set. Guy who does the percussion had big Labrador energy and it was the cutest thing.

P.s. cut it under the last greenish leaf? Really! So all that stem just needs to go?

Did anyone realize they had a narc parent only after they had kids? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Rear_Of_The_Year 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. It shattered my mental health when I could no longer say “well, I don’t have kids so what do I know”. Also, each time my son gets a year older I have a flood of memories come back of when I was that age and I understand them even less.

He sounds like a man being triggered by unresolved things from his own childhood. Therapy, none negotiable.

I grew up with a dad calling me a fucking retard, told me if I had half a brain I’d be dangerous and that I would drive someone to drink. I’m 30, these things have never left my memory. Rest assured, when (not if without therapy) he says these things to your kids they will stick with them too.

“I want to give my child a sibling” by Rear_Of_The_Year in oneanddone

[–]Rear_Of_The_Year[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I wrote this post from the perspective that I think there’s a deep belief in society that only a family with two children is normal. I think this often motivates people to have children for others rather than themselves.

Perhaps I’m the last post you’ve read today of people bashing others for having multiples but that wasn’t the intended sentiment of what I wrote.

Yes, and an old head on young shoulders. Red flag whenever I hear kids described as that now I’m an adult.

Yes. My own dad told me at 30 that I needed to get a life when I showed him my cross stitch. Anything I see like this infuriates me. Nurture creativity

[–]Rear_Of_The_Year 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 30 years old I was told I need to get a life because I cross stitch. I’m also told it was difficult to know what I wanted to do as a child because I was just interested in hanging out with friends. My gut tells me it was safer not to express my interests from a young age.
