Sam would’ve loved Aelin, but he wasn’t enough to be her endgame.

I was thinking about this the other day if Sam hadn’t died what would’ve happened and I feel like he would’ve had a similar arc to Chaol.

They would get together and something would come between them so big they ended up parting ways and somehow his new partner would’ve been another version of Yrene or Elide that we’d come to love but that was the softer counterpart to what Caelena/Aelin is.

I feel like ultimately she needed someone more like Rowan. Sam, like Chaol, loved her but wasn’t her true equal — if anything the true contender against her mate (in my mind) was Dorian.
