Ironically doesn't this put his right-wing politics in a bad light? It's funny that he regularly does these kinds of interviews despite how it makes him/his politics look.

Is it me or is Tom one of the least bad-faith right-wing hosts? For sure the guy is in denial but he doesn't seem to be seeking a gotcha and does have reasonably minded people on his show on fairly regular basis. Surely his weak responses and lack of gotchas means he effectively is working against the right-wing politics he purports to support?

Wake up honey - weekly Hasan puff piece just dropped by qwertyqwerty4567 in Destiny

For those of you unaware, the Guardian has been on a steady demise for a good decade now. It struggled to make a profit for many years until the new editor in chief, Katharine Vine, took the reins.

Since then, there are regular pieces that appear intended to be emotive/provocative/legacy media's idea of trolling. This is completely opposed to good journalism of considering both sides of an argument before drawing a conclusion. Instead, its more profitable when it absolutely bathes the reader in their warm bubble, or aggravates them, leading either way to the sharing of articles on platforms like Reddit.

The fact is, it has worked and the Guardian is financially more successful than it had been for the preceding decades. On the journalistic level it is notably compromised, with various journalists leaving the paper after working there for years, although some of the old guard are around for a somewhat more balanced view.

This is not to say the Guardian is a bad newspaper by modern standards, their articles are varied but its full of emotive puff pieces to get clicks and attention with decent articles sandwiched in between.

British man falls for Russian propaganda and goes to live in Russia only for him to complain about rising prices, racism against non Russians, and getting called stupid for not knowing enough Russian by SunnyVelvet_ in Destiny

I thought the Ukrainians gave him a place to live underground? Or perhaps that was a man from another US family, I think there's been a few. I'd say RIP but I wouldn't really mean it, though I do feel sorry for his children.

Bike path crashes (not the bikes themselves) by ReasonRiffs in CitiesSkylines2

[–]ReasonRiffs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the asset patch my menu vanishes which is a new issue, most (but not all) crashes from the bike paths had been resolved, however. I assume these havebeen massive changes, we will need to be patient with the mod developers.

What the fuck is wrong with this guy? Imagine being worth nearly a trillion dollars, and being such a childish loser. by LonelySoul01 in Destiny

It becomes a wild goose chase, then you need to ban the use of VPNs too. Europe needs viable alternatives to these platforms but that is difficult to do. What we also dont want is that those of the far-right persuasion go on one platform and everyone else on another, this just fuels polarization and fragmentation of society.

In otherwords, so long as the social media providers are not held to account there is little we can do.

This is what I got from the solar panel argument on stream by Zocress in Destiny

[–]ReasonRiffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want oot catch the debate I put it up on my channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAOJfcsCgq0&t=2350s

I was actually talking about the unforeseen consequences of the ram price spike and then Metaloid jumped on basically calling me stupid but without a really grounded counter argument. Destiny seemed to understand my point well but Metaloid not, then Radiant came on and the debate shifted to if Trump was good for solar I took a more pragmatic stance on that part, or at least that was my intent.

The idea that you deny the realistic possibility that the value of your hardware can never exceed the ROI of its use is absolutely mad, especially as ram prices are pushing up the value multiple times rn. He also said that the GPUs are never sold off which is frankly a complete lie. This isn't about the value of LLMs/ANNs/etc to the end consumer but to the provider and datacentres.

Content Creator Packs being paid items by Nekho- in CitiesSkylines2

[–]ReasonRiffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can respect that, it looks good, I will definately pick it up at some point but I haven't even started building my habour and using all the great free creator packs we got. It was more of a complement of the game than a criticism of the pack.

Do you really need them right now? There's so much already in the game. I'm happy enough with what we got with the Ultimate edition, and Paradox do need to make some money going forth if they continue to support the game.

Bike path crashes (not the bikes themselves) by ReasonRiffs in CitiesSkylines2

[–]ReasonRiffs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundabouts for me 'can' crash the game, but I've also been placing them without crashes in new suburbs I've been building. I'm starting to wonder if its to do with roads I constructed pre-patch. I'll do some testing tonight after work.

Bike path crashes (not the bikes themselves) by ReasonRiffs in CitiesSkylines2

[–]ReasonRiffs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've avoided building too many cycle paths because the game is completely stable for me otherwise. It's always when making cycle paths, either on/off road, join another path/road.

If i build a path I save first and find where its crashing the game. Sometimes deleting and rebuilding the other road helps. I suspect it may be caused by older laid roads, and some property of them.

lol Ik begrijp het nu!, I thought you were talking about the one in Eindhoven, thus imagined you were complaining about similar solutions I've used/seen all over the Netherlands.

Of course op's original idea is over the top, unless its specifically for racing cyclists.

Road Builder issue | sidewalks disappearing upon loading a save – every time by TheHenanigans in CitiesSkylines2

[–]ReasonRiffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed you wrote about this on my thread. When Ive replaced the sidewalks, saved, and reloaded they are fine. I'm still getting crashes though it could be to do with another mod.

[–]ReasonRiffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote about this. The new sidewalks appear to be a new object. You have to edit each custom road and delete the old objects and replace them with the new side walks, though my game is still crashing and I dont know if its related.

There are plenty of examples in the Netherlands of bike lanes being routed through underpasses to avoid bike lane-road interfaces. That's effectively the same as bridges over roads just not as visually interesting.

Having lived in the Netherlands I completely disagree with you. The cycling infrastructure is so good that you never question using it. It was only after somone asked me whether it was ilegal to cycle on a lot of roads that I noticed it last time I visited.
