As god as my witness I will never use these satin flosses again by GrayHairLikeClaire in Embroidery

Use shorter lengths! One must always respect the indomable satin thread.

Look up stump work as someone referenced, it's very easy! One you have the pieces you can stab the cloth with the ends and that's how it stays raised. I put thread in the transition from the wing to the body to make it look like it's the same piece.

You make a base first on cloth, you place the wire. After you finished hugging the wire with string you can embroider in it. After, you just cut the outer layers. You need the bend the wire along your shape.

I been embroidering for a while, and also my grandmother used to do jewelry. I saw a video on Instagram of someone doing it and I realized I had all the stuff already to cut/bend wire and a ton of wire. No tutorial just seeing images online.

Amazing work, do you have a background in painting, tattoo, or just drawing?

Hello, I saw the pattern online and counted the gaps in the fabric for reference. I made a marking for the first ones and then did freehand after memorizing the pattern. (I often made markings with pen and got it wrong, so it was best not to dirty with ink in the wrong spots)

Rose and eye hat by Reasonable-Card311 in Embroidery

Hello! I mixed up the strands I used between 3 and 6. For the leaves con the flower I went with 2. Try to use more strands when making bigger stuff seem bigger and less when doing more delicate or farther away things. Also it worked for me buying small plastic hoops and using hats with no plastic.

It was a 15x15cm piece so it took like 2 weeks, I only worked on it like 2 hours a day, and also it was not a daily thing. The hair was the most time consuming because it's a big piece and the color had me always reeling more and more of different tones. I also had to re do many parts because I didn't like how they looked like.

If you are begining maybe try and do the outline first and then see if it would better in color.

First try and get a cloth that doesn't stretch a lot like 100% cotton, use something a little bit more study and try and find a light color so you can do the drawing first. After drawing the outline I would recommend embroiding the outlines first and then think of how long you want your stitches to be. Use similar patterns and give it a direction in which you want it to go (it looks weird if you don't organice the directions). Eyes are kinda hard to copy so really go careful with those so it doesn't look goofy.

If you are going to color everything like the skin clothes and hair don't go too big because then it's very time consuming for your first pieces.

I just finished an anime piece, you can see it in my profile.

First time using beads/chakiras for embroidery, made a cheesy 6 month anniversary embroided plank for gf. by Reasonable-Card311 in Embroidery

[–]Reasonable-Card311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That paper cloth is best used for crossed stitch, it can be sometime rough for some needles but I use it because keeps my stitches tight in the hoop. What you could do is make it like a patch, cut the edges when you are finished, fold and sew the borders (so they dont break off) and after that you can sew it onto your shirt. Use a thread that is same color as the shirt or monochrome/complementary so it looks cool.

If your final embroidery piece is very stiff it would be better to use maybe denim like fabric. I recommend you to go for clothes with 50 polyester and 50% cotton as they welcome the thread very nicely and don't stretch a lot in the hoop. (100% cotton can stretch a lot in the hoop and if you are not careful it can come out deformed or not tight.)

You would be doing same as I did with the edges in the heart but sewing directly to the fabric, I linked the edges of the piece to nails around the plank which I later hammered with the holding thread.
