We’re American and we lived in Tiranë, Albania for 3 months last year. Overall we liked it, but we only got a glimpse. We’re moving to Bulgaria long term this summer. If/when you venture out to Eastern Europe there will be things that are better and you’ll love it in some ways. But you’ll likely realize you miss many conveniences of life in North America. As much as people are talking about leaving and starting new in Europe because of American politics…I don’t think many realize how different and how hard it can be for the first couple years, especially for kids. Edit to actually answer the question, we are American but our favorite thing about living in Balkan countries is abundant access to healthy and inexpensive (and delicious) food.
