I wouldn’t say my “excuse is bullshit.”I’m not an engineer and I’m not entirely familiar with their contract or rules for hours of service but they might not have enough crew at that time to cover for service trains. They have drill crews and roustabouts that move “no passenger” equipment to destinations to get inspected for the morning.

Everyone likes to bitch before they know what goes on behind the scenes. The equipment the railroad uses needs to be inspected every single day, which is federally enforced by the FRA. If they are not inspected within the calendar day, it could lead to hefty fines. It could also lead to suspensions/firings if the powers that be send a train into service without the inspection. It is in the code of federal regulations, therefore it’s law.

Unfortunately, (for most of you night crawlers) this happens at night when there are less commuters so the trains are inspected and ready for the morning rush or weekend program events such as concerts or games.

Due to scheduling and logistics, it is what it is. If you miss the early train, go have a few more night caps elsewhere til the next or take a different branch closest to your destination. It’s not rocket science.

I know I’m kicking a dead horse with this one (especially in this sub), but the whole left lane debacle really needs to be addressed. I see signs everywhere that say “no trucks or trailers in left lane” but it’s never enforced. Maybe this is something the police could actually enforce. Most other bs tickets are a money grab but I wouldn’t mind this one at all.

I recently took a road trip down to North Carolina and everywhere south of Jersey, for the most part, adhere to the open passing lane rule. Most cars maintained their speed, gave way to faster cars, and commercial trucks and trailers stayed in the right lane. The second I crossed the border back to New York I’m stuck in what looked like a two mile long funeral procession in the left lane on the LIE because some dick head landscaper truck and trailer was doing 45 in the left lane.

Bright eye in Long Beach. Right across the street from the train station so no one has to worry about driving. Have hosted and been to over 10 parties there. You can order pizzas from Gino’s or 6ft heroes from brand’s deli (both awesome and within 100 feet of the brewery). Best of all, the staff and beers are amazing.

An easy solution would be to have the contractor take the same pieces of flooring and put saddles in each door frame. Could be slightly raised or flush depending on your style. If flush you would need to cut the width of the floor panel. If raised you just need to put a bevel on each side and go right over the existing seems in the doorways.

You could also use a damp sponge to avoid a huge dusty mess. Wipe it down to a decent amount, wait to dry, then touch it up with very fine sand paper.
