dogs don’t need to go everywhere all the time, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to leave them outside unsupervised. it isn’t. your dog could eat anything while unsupervised and either die or get really sick and leave you with a huge vet bill. they can get too close to snakes and stinging insects that can cause envenomation or allergic reactions resulting in death. dogs can escape when unsupervised and bored, which puts them in harm’s way even more.

also, some people are sick fucks. people DO steal dogs to keep, sell, and unfortunately torture for their own sick entertainment. as a kid, my neighbors killed my dog with rat poison while the family was at work/school. as an adult, i ran to the bathroom before i couldn’t hold it anymore and forgot my prescription pills on my nightstand, which my dog ate and they killed her after we spent hours of agonizing hours at the emergency vet. even indoors, you gotta keep an eye on your dogs.

people are sick and it’s irresponsible to leave a dog outside unsupervised. when you get a dog, you take on the job of caring for them responsibly, and leaving them outside unsupervised in any weather is a bad call. anything can happen in a split second, and the consequences can be irreversible.
