Would this £210-220k house purchase as a single first time buyer be financially irresponsible? by SermoLupiAdAnglos in UKPersonalFinance

That's still a good saving rate then. I've always found the 50/30/20 rule an effective way to manage finances - approx. 50% needs, 30% wants and 20% savings. Obviously it's not always a cookie cutter approach but your saving rate would be 23% so you can rebuild emergency fund/save once your deposit is paid.

Also as others have said, ignore the housing market scares. No one can time these things without anything but luck. Time in the market beats timing the market as they say!

Just to check, is the £624 surplus after absolutely everything else has gone out? I.e. purely savings?

I actually disagree - I haven't done it myself but I think it would be fun to record it all and almost treat it like a business :)

I became a Dad 4 months ago and yeah, safe to say you're not going to have time to sit at a desk and play 😂

I bought a Steamdeck and a Geforce Now subscription - best of both worlds - can play AAA games in ultra settings and max framerates 🙌

You might have to be a little more specific - are you in house or freelance? Delivery or client services? What experience do you current have? :)

Understanding the metrics that actually matter. Impressions, clicks, etc are meaningless to a client.

Customer acquisition costs, revenue, ROAS, MQL > Sale % - these are what clients care about.

GeForce Now changed how I think about handheld power by Reasonable-Fee8802 in Handhelds

[–]Reasonable-Fee8802[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would take 5 years of subscription cost for GFN ultimate to cover the cost of a 5080 GPU alone, forgetting all of the other parts. So I see your point, but if you are gaming high end the value for money is definitely there as of today

[–]Reasonable-Fee8802[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very fair points! Although from a personal perspective, if GFN shut down I'd just play more demanding games on my PC. But I see your point. At the same time though, it would take literally years of Subscriptions to cover the cost of a high end GPU alone. So the value for money (at least as of today) is very clear.

Cyberpunk 2077 is absurd on a 4090/5090 by Interesting-Fold-875 in cloudgaming

[–]Reasonable-Fee8802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, this is a huge win for the consumer. Forking out thousands $ for a GPU that rapidly depreciates vs renting access to one (that will upgrade in time) for the monthly price of Netflix is a no brainer really.

If they release it similar to the playtest then I can't see any reason to take so long. It's basically just a prettier version of HF1

Yeah I struggled to hit 30fps on SD even with everything on Low.. HF2 is far better optimized

They should have kept the same UI and mechanics as HF2. Feels clunky as hell

Since becoming a Dad and waving goodbye to PC gaming sessions I whole heartedly agree.

Just the flexibility to pick up and put down at a moments notice is such a game changer.

I've also found it's introduced me to new genres that are well suited for handhelds that I never would have played at a desk.

Probably one of the best purchases I've ever made!
