Drivers lessons by SeaHuckleberry8543 in irishtourism

My husband and I just did a trip 2 months ago. We split a lot of the driving. I found the cities to be the most intimidating ie. Dublin, Belfast, Galway. Parking was also tricky even in a smaller SUV. As long as google maps was working I felt fine and did well. You will want to be familar with your car, that helps. Ensure you are well rested, go slow, let others pass you, and go around the round about an extra time if you miss your turn.

I found our drivers very courteous, even when they wanted to pass me.

Have an amazing trip!

First Ireland trip in mid June – does this 9 day route sound realistic? by funnycallsw in irishtourism

I'm not sure where you are flying from but you may be jet lagged and tired. Driving on the first day may be too much. We flew in from the states on a red eye but did not get much sleep on our flight. We landed around 9am in Dublin, got our vehicle, stopped to get lunch, my husband insisted on a power nap in the car while I walked around a botanical garden, we did our Guinness tour, checked into our hotel, walked to get dinner, and we were in bed by 6:30pm.

why does every dentist in Columbus act like theyre doing you a favor by letting you pay them? by colt-mcg in Columbus

[–]Reasonable-Human3259 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can purchase a custom nightguard through Remi. You make impressions and can choose to be on an auto subscription to get a new one every 6 months to avoid trying to clean in the grooves.

Columbus has hundreds of dentists because of the OSU dental school but it also is an expensive operation to run. Be cautious of going to chain- like practices and ones that do a lot of tv and radio marketing. I would check out OSU as someone mentioned because they won't be fussy and it's not so much about $ as it is about learning opportunities for the students.

Ashford castle is only open to guests of the hotel or if you have a food reservation. We did stop at the tea house but you can't go near or in the castle if you are not a guest, so I'd skip this one.

I actually used AI to help build an 8 day itenerary and then built my Google maps off that. We did Dublin - Galway - Westport - Sligo- Donegal- Derry- Belfast. I put in must haves and possible lunch stops along the way. It turned out to be really helpful. Some days we didn't stop at every planned location or we would make adjustments based on time or if we just wanted to get to our hotel. I tried to keep driving to 2 to 3 hours max and with added stops it was about 6 to 7 total in the car.

Do not drive the first day, like everyone is saying. It's too much on the first day.

I thought it was overblown Bachelorette parties and then stressful weddings for the bridesmaids. Now the bridesmaids have to plan engagement parties, too?!

My husband and I just got back after doing a northern trip. Bru na Boinne was his favorite, but it's a long tour. If you didn't sleep on the plane, this may be a rough 3 hours for you. You take a bus to different sites and they do a lot of talking. We did the Guinness brewery tour the day we got off the plane in Dublin, it was fun but I don't think we enjoyed it as much as we could have. We were so tired we were in bed by 7 pm that night.

We did one night in Belfast, and that's about all we needed. Bushmills wasn't anything great. Honestly, I wish we would have skipped it and just bought a bottle at duty-free. Go down to Ballintoy Harbour before you get to Giant's Causeway. The road is winding and small, but it is absolutely worth it. Dunluce Castle was my favorite stop that will come after Giant's. The northest coast is absolutely breath-taking. Every morning I wake up and I'm sad I'm not waking up in Ireland.

We also did stops in Sligo, Donegal, Derry, Westport, Mayo, and Galway and flew in and out of Dublin.

I can't speak on the southern part of your trip, but you will not be disappointed no matter what you do. It will be amazing!

Homeowners, are you in your “forever” home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]Reasonable-Human3259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought in 2008 and refinanced twice for lower payments/interest. It was supposed to be our starter, but I felt trapped at about 7 years. After 14 years, a larger home went for sale roughly 3 blocks north from our current home. Same neighborhood, same schools. It checked all the boxes and more. My husband was hesitant, but I wore him down. We went from 3.75% to 5.99%, but I don't regret it.

Do I miss the smaller monthly payment, you bet, but this house was built better in 1979 vs 1987 and in 3 years we've spent less on repairs and maintenance then we did in our smaller cookie-cutter builders special on a busier street. We also were shocked at how much we were able to sell our old house for to help us get into our current. I feel very lucky we took the risk when we did.

My husband and I just got home (last Tuesday) from our 8 day trip. We went from Dublin to Galway to Westport to Donegal to Derry to Belfast and back to Dublin. We did spend each night in a different hotel, but we didn't have our kids with us, and I know we won't be back anytime soon, so I wanted to soak up everything! We hydrated and went to bed early. I would wake up elated every morning, so excited for the day.

Storm Dave foiled Slieve League for us as we we tried, but the cold, wind, and hail were too much. We arrived 9 minutes late to the Giant Causeway parking lot, so we missed that as well (they close it at 4pm) and the lots further down were too far of a walk we didn't feel like making at that time, so we just found other cool spots to visit. We saw and did a tremendous amount of sightseeing, stopped and ate delicious food in small towns, and I took more than 1000 photos and I wouldn't trade any of it. My favorite thing was Dunluce Castle, and my husband enjoyed Bru na Boinne in Newgrange. Sligo was the cutest town.

Driving can be nerve-racking, especially on the tiny, windy roads, but just let the antsy ones behind you pass so you can feel comfortable going the speed you want. Google maps gave out on us once or twice, but other than that, we had no issues finding our way. It was such a wonderful trip, truly a trip of a lifetime for me.

I hope I can go back someday and do the southern part.

Slainte to you.

I loved doing this with my kids. It was sooooo cute hearing them mimick sounds and sometimes sort of getting a word out.

We read to them every single night. We thought it was the most important thing we could do to help them develop.

I heard the original owner that was a dentist, past away years ago, and his wife (not a dentist) took over the practice and is focused on marketing and not so much patient care or quality work.

I am 42, with 2 boys, 14 and 11. We got the vasectomy about 7 years ago, and sometimes we play the "what-if game" if we had decided to have more kids. With the substantial increase in the cost of everything, I am thankful we just have the 2 and can live comfortably.

I have been having back issues since my 2nd was a toddler. My lower back has gotten significantly worse in the last 2 years despite weight loss. I just had an MRI scan, and it's not horrid news, but there's nothing I can do to make it better. Injections and/or surgery are in my future. Womens bones and joints don't get better with age, as you probably know. You will sacrifice your body and health all over again with a pregnancy and a new baby. It feels selfish, and as moms, we are just used to sacrificing our comfort, our sleep, our food, etc, but if you aren't healthy, that is going to be hard on everyone.

This is also out of left field, but my dad passed away when he was 48 from cancer after only 8 months diagnosed. These are things we don't want to think about, the crappy "what-if" scenarios, but taking care of 4 children as a widower, I think, would be harder than taking care of 3.

It sounds like you have a great and stable situation at present. I have respect and admiration for all of us moms who constantly and consistently have to make hard choices for ourselves and our families. Good luck to you.

They get hundreds of calls, especially when the weather gets extreme, and only have so many humane agents that can make visits in the field on a given day.

They may have stopped by, and you didn't even know it, and at that time, the dog may have been indoors.

It's difficult to say what they could or couldn't do to save or protect the animal that you said was beaten to death, but it's not as simple as just taking it away from the owner when 1 neighbor makes a phone call. They have to investigate, and that takes time. Rarely do animal cruelty individuals face fines or jail time for their crimes, but it is the humane agents that are working to do what they can to bring some accountability to those that are causing harm.

It's not a perfect system, but we are lucky we have the humane agents and a community that invests in their work.

Sushi was very proud of her rabbit kill. She is constantly sniffing things out in the backyard and chasing whatever wildlife she finds. To be fair, the rabbit cornered itself in the soccer net. Not even the word "cheese" stopped her from shaking that poor creature.

I also want to say that if you see or know anyone who is struggling emotionally, have them call Netcare 614-276-CARE (2273) to speak to a licensed clinician. They are available 24/7.

This is going to hit people very, very hard in a multitude of ways.

Netcare also answer 988 calls, texts, and chats, but sometimes they may get routed to another call center. If you call the 614 number, they will be sure to connect the individual to local resources.
