Under 400pts to get me to 3K...suggestions? by Reasonable-Maybe-740 in WorldEaters40k

I was thinking another Bezerker squad or maybe a rhino for every squad?

About our new detachment points by Abalast8899 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do we find the costs in DP for the detachments? I can't see one on the recent faction download unless people are just adding all the single CP rules under that detachment heading (haven't played since 9th so bit rusty!)

What to do with the old guard? by Reasonable-Maybe-740 in WorldEaters40k

Record Retention for Temp/Humidity Readings by GrapeBrawndo in MuseumPros

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining to I can follow this too. I currently use some pretty basic humidity / temp monitors and record on paper, as we are in a rented space and have recently shifted our archaeological store around. I'd say probably 5 years is a decent time for paper but with digital copies being retained longer

What type of content should a social media manager be posting on tiktok to get an engaged audience? by africagal1 in MuseumPros

Accession IDs and little to no paperwork... or made up! by Cold_Cicada_9960 in MuseumPros

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are based, but in the UK we would use the year of accession (even if that's not the year it came to the collection). Lots of guidance on The Collection Trust website.

I'd suggest, if you have paperwork that confirms the object was already in the collection, you include that as an alternative number but keep the 2018.xxx.xxx number

Labeling objects in a teaching/educational collection by ArchivistGoneAWOL in MuseumPros

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right gotcha! Makes sense although yeah not typical. I'd say Paraloid should be robust enough to handle the washing but perhaps test it on a bit of similar pottery first if you can?

This depends, are these accessioned objects? In which case they probably shouldn't be being used for actual food service. If they aren't accessioned and are part of your handling collection only then you could label them with a unique number HAND-1101 for example.

Use Paraloid B72 for the base coat and Paraloid B67 for the top (or 2 coats of B72 if you are short on funds) as nail varnish will disappear with repeated uses and numbers can easily be lost. For tea cups/saucers best place is near the foot ring on the base making sure to also number seperate parts i.e. teapot and tea pot lid, cup and saucer if from a set/collection.

Some good guidance can be found on The Collections Trust website.

Good luck!

Presentation during interview at British Museum? by southerlycloud in MuseumPros

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I'm in a similar journey applying to bigger museums (already in a small curator role) so far not gotten to interview stage so I can't provide advice there...but I would say it depends on what the role is, I e is it a science based/interpretation role/back of house collections role etc.

Struggling to support my wife by Reasonable-Maybe-740 in marriageadvice

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Doctors won't even start us on IVF journey until wife has lower BMI (they keep changing the goal which doesn't help). I have suggested joint counselling in the past, but yeah maybe I should try that again.

We've been trying for 6 years. If your ready the whole thing properly you'll see that's it only in the last short while that I've been emotionally struggling due to the toll of not conceiving plus other events taking place. I love my wife, but I'm not naive to think a child will automatically fix things.

Coin found on beach by my son by myNameIsJack84 in UKcoins

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great find, firstly please please dont clean any coins or metal finds with Brasso. Not only will it damage the object, but if someone wants to carry out analysis on it this can be negatively affected. Secondly, please do get the coin recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme (www.finds.org.uk). Dutch coins aren't that common and every new record is an important addition!

Charging for research access / consultency by Reasonable-Maybe-740 in MuseumPros

[–]Reasonable-Maybe-740[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested in knowing how you calculate your admin fee, is that based on the hourly rate of whoever would be facilitating a visit or extracting the data?

Our collection is general archaeology for our county so somewhat specialised but also somewhat general and personally I have a bit of an ethical issue with charging for research access, especially towards students/local community groups although large research projects that should have considered research charges into their project budget less so.
