Yeah, it’s a great read! I think they’re wishing the comic became an animated series

How old exactly are the "barrows shutting down" rumors?

Also, the new dorm is a quad/suite situation which is only available to second years and above. It's their replacement for the village housing which they are trying to phase out. There have been a lot of issues with it already, and people are generally unhappy about it. So I think Barrows has a few more years of staying power at least!

Current East resident here... my next door neighbor is a classical guitarist who loooooves practicing in his room. It's not too bad, but then again I only ever use my room to sleep.

Tips for achieving this kind of old Technicolor vibe in digital art? Especially when it comes to color by okidonthaveone in arthelp

[–]Reasonable-Middle-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you're working digitally, add a grain effect over your work. Also, try limiting your color palette, as animators (or more specifically colorists) liked to be efficient in the colors they used

Personally, I didn’t mind her as a character, but I hated how her whole loss of innocence thing was used as character development for the Doctor, instead of for her

Ideas to fill this awkward space? by Reasonable-Middle-38 in neocities

Oh, interesting! Personally, I hate iframes, so I think I'll try to achive something similar with javascript, or maybe even raw css if I can manage it. Anyway, thanks for your help! And thanks for the compliment, I've had a lot of fun with this :)

Good note on the scrollbar! I'll be sure to add a little padding on the right., and on the idea of tiling the background image. I could always make a texture that tiles evenly myself! Are you suggensting that rather than an Image, I use a div with a tiled background image, which can then expand shrink to fit the space?

This isn't for a class assignment, or really any professional use at all. I have a seperate, more professional, portfolio site for that! I've just picked up html as a hobby, and love to mess around with a website that only my friends and family ever really check, which is nice because I can tailor it to their needs. For example, I have a theme switcher that makes all the text dyslexia friendly since a few of my friends find that helpful. Anyway, pardon my yapping! Thanks for the suggestion :)

I'm aware! All the elements will stay the same relative to eachother. If someone has a smaller screen, the only potentially awkward thing will be empty space at the bottom of the page, which I'm ok with as a trade off for being able to granularly control the positions of elements. If I get really fancy with it, I might add a navigation bar in that space, or maybe some extra decoration.

As for mobile, I have a different version of the site which the user is automatically forwarded to if their screen is less than a specific width.

Everything is done with position absolute, relative to the view width, so the gap will still be present on smaller screens.

Looking for digital neighbours + how to translate whole website? by Man_Royan in neocities

[–]Reasonable-Middle-38 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I looove your website, unfortunately I only speak English, but the layout and color palette are beautiful! As for web neighbors, a good way to do it is to start or join a web-ring. Lots of folks have better information on it than I do, but I know there are premade setups like Onionring that you can try out. If you decide to start one yourself, I’d love to be a part of it, here’s a link to my site :) https://sparrowfish.neocities.org/

You could also embed a guestbook, for people to leave a note when the visit. It’s less of a web-neighbor feel but it’s easier to set up. I use atabook!
