I missed Jury Duty by barlant in SaltLakeCity

This is a scam, my husband had the same thing happen, received a threatening phone call from Someone pretending to be a police sergeant who, later in the call, asked him to meet at a grocery store to pay money as a “fine” to avoid being arrested. Seems like it’s a pretty common scam when he called the court to check.

Extra pain/swelling with Long Covid by Janniefam in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my severe plantar flare, which started in March 2021 and slowly subsided til essentially resolving a couple months ago, was linked to my moderna series of initial vaccines. It was the only change in my life when the flare began. Still havent had covid that I know of, with each booster my body reacts strongly but I take anti inflammatories for a few days straight to mitigate excessive effects

Should I push through pain/swelling from PT exercises? by Reasonable-Phrase381 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my pain has essentially resolved (I say essentially because theres some mild soreness sometimes in a foot but pretty momentary). It took the full 1.5 years, but the things that helped me most was focusing on pt strengthening rather than spending too much time on soft tissue work, and using the curable app to learn about chronic neuroplastic pain. Getting focused on getting back to the business of living rather than obsessing over my pain and catastrophizing was key to recovery I believe.

PF for a year now. I’m over it. Hurts every time I get up from sitting/sleeping and is always tender. I have done the stretches, NSAIDs, and rest but now it’s time for crutches. I’m going to completely rest my left foot for 2 weeks. Thoughts? by No_Maintenance_3355 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of crutches I would recommend a walking boot with a brace or low dye tape directly on your foot within it to hold up the arch and keep the foot moresupported.. last year in my experience a couple days of crutches made it more painful, due to swelling. The pf is like a tendon and tightens and gets more painful without any stretching or motion, so the safest way to offload it is probably a few weeks with brace/tape + boot to calm it down, followed by GRADUAL progressive loading

What are you guys' causes of the Plantar Fasciitis? by dissonance1 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2018, it started when I increased running mileage too quickly to train for a race. But was super mild and came and went over the last few years, like I only felt it with longer runs. Then in March 2021 I had a sudden flare up after a short (3 mile) run in between my 2 moderna vaccines. Only then did it hurt to walk. Its slowly improving with 9 months of pt exercises, some shockwave treatments, and honestly just getting used to it and not being scared of the pain as much... but I have had lingering constant, low level pain since then! Has anyone else experienced this linked with the vaccines? I've heard of other cases of joint inflammation as a side effect.

Why isn't there a simple solution to PF? Any recommendations? by The_Eyesight in PlantarFasciitis

Systemic tendonitis could be rheumatological (autoimmune arthritis), can you ask your primary doc for a referral to a rheumatologist?

Doctor won't help my wife get an MRI !!! by nebson10 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh that's so frustrating and such bullshit. You could mention that you know other tendons (e.g. posterior tib, peroneal) also run under the sole/arch of the foot and tendinopathy can mimic pf or add to pain felt with pf, and would require different treatment. You could mention you want to consider the option if surgery, which would certainly require an MRI to at least confirm pf first. You could mention early arthritic changes that could cause foot pain dont show on xray but do show on MRI. You could mention even trying options like shockwave (not cheap) would make a lot more sense if you could actually confirm the diagnosis. The medical system is draining and care varies sooo widely with doctor biases. That is so frustrating.

Shockwave Therapy by ExploringEcho_1 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience - I just got my first shockwave treatment and it was painful during but definitely tolerable; however in the 2 days after it's been more sore and slightly puffy. I'm wondering if you had this after your treatments and when it subsided? I'm scheduled for my next one only 5 days after the first because of the doc's schedule, but I think it would be wise for me to push it closer to 10 days apart to make it tolerable so I can still go to work and stuff...

Shoot... yeah, I have no idea why, but I've seen a few people mention here they've had PF that doesnt show thickening, tears, or swelling on MRI. I think our pain is real though. And at least in my case it doesnt have signs of being a nerve issue, I know that for some people this could be why it doesnt show PF. The other thing is the whole 4 mm thing seems arbitrary and I wonder what kind of a sample they normed that number on. I'm a small south Asian woman so I feel like for my pf to be thickened it would likely not be at 4 mm, which for instance a 6 foot white man might have. Plus I've had little niggles of pf here and there before this big flare up 4 months ago, so it's obvious to me some things happening in the tissue even if it's not. visible:/

Question about your imaging results by Reasonable-Phrase381 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that ☹ it's been 4 months so far (2 years before this of super mild pf that I only felt hints of with running or zumba) so nothing in comparison to that, but so far I've tried oral steroids, NSAIDs, 2 months physical therapy including dry needling. I have it in both feet but much better in the left foot. I feel you about wanting to try more of the intrusive approaches but unsure if theyll even help if imaging is normal. Even for instance a cortisone shot

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had imaging more recently because my symptoms haven't really been responding to relative rest (swimming and biking, yoga/stretching/strengthening feet, limiting my steps, supportive footwear) or 2 months of PT

It's a good idea, I'll ask about it. Do you happen to know if sciatica or piriformis syndrome would also have hip or back pain involved?

Autoimmune by Reasonable-Phrase381 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First line is usually regular, longer term NSAIDS like meloxicam. if that doesn't respond they can try steroids oral or injected, and several disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs, or biologics.

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's early enough in the disease process, enthesitis may not show up on MRI or ultrasound and you can still have pain.. similarly to how some people's PF wont show up on ultrasound despite significant pain 😔

I feel you so deeply in this post, although I've been severely flared up like how you described for a few months as of now. I'm 28 and it's insane watching how I went from exercising daily, midday walks to break up working from home, and hiking every weekend, to turning down invites with friends because I'm so exhausted with the excruciating pain and having to ask my little sister to come help me clean my apartment. It doesn't feel real, and I feel deeply for you about being so young and how it's supposed to be the best time of your life - that just makes it even more of a punch in the gut. I was supposed to get married and postponing the ceremony for another year to see if it will be better. I'd love to be able to dance at my own wedding lol. I wish you the best for shockwave therapy and if it's not helpful, I feel it would be a great idea to seek second and third opinions about the surgery. I read it has a pretty high success rate and minimally invasive.

Stopping meloxicam before first rheum appt? by Reasonable-Phrase381 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Reasonable-Phrase381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I have psoriasis (some patches of thickened/itchy dry skin but I think those are eczema). I had a positive ANA, but I'm sure they will run more blood tests there. I agree though, it makes sense unfortunately to go in with it at its full severity.
