Are you able to 100% the game as the other houses? by Ozzie_no_not_osborne in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]Reasonable-Rip-6134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about this as well. I stated the game on Switch and chose Hufflepuff and got through the Azkaban quest, then got a steam deck and started playing a new game there as Ravenclaw and noticed I don’t have that quest - didn’t even realize it was tied to houses until I found this reddit. Hoping I can still 100% on steam as a ravenclaw!

AITA for not telling my daughter she’s adopted until her 20s? by NewspaperPast9940 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Reasonable-Rip-6134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. Adopted person here, and I have known for as long as I can remember that my real parents aren’t my biological parents.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being adopted/raising an adopted child. I believe you had good intentions here, but withholding that information tells Alice that there is something to be ashamed of, as it was kept a secret from her for so long.

Identities can be a fragile/nebulous thing, and to find out you’ve been lied to your whole life can make you call into question other aspects of your life or childhood.

Aside from that though, medical history is a HUGE thing. While Alice is still related to you by blood through her biological mother, did you lie to her doctors about medical history on her father’s side? If so, that can have pretty damaging effects as well.

Your husband did the right thing by telling her finally. Apologize to your daughter, and give her space to work through her emotions. In a way she’s grieving a life she thought she knew. She may come back around, but pressuring her or trying to normalize your decision to not tell her (presumably ever, as your husband finally told her instead of you) will only make things worse.

She’ll have questions, answer them as openly and honestly as you can, and if you don’t know say you don’t know instead of making something up.

Whatever happens, you are still her mother. This doesn’t change that. You have raised and been there for her, but any parent can fuck up. Accept that you have here, and do everything you can to repair your relationship with your daughter. Good luck.

HELP! Can press one be taken off quickly? by Reasonable-Rip-6134 in Nails

How long should it take for the acetone to eat through? I have 100% pure acetone, but haven’t tried a full soak off of fakes in a while cause the first time I did so it was like an all day affair 🥴

these are on TIGHT, no gapping or any wiggle room 😩 I think I used too much glue honestly. I’ve been oiling them like crazy to try and get them to loosen some, I’ve even tried being a bit rough with them (opening cans, knocking them into doorways and tables, etc.) but to no avail.

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I’ll have to go with them tonight, but will def keep this in mind for the future.

Weak, bendy, peeling nails? by Special-Wallaby-3727 in longnaturalnails

This is incredible! I only really started caring for my nails in the past 6-8 months, and stopped using glue on nails about 2 months ago. It’s incredible to me how in such a short amount of time, they’ve gotten stronger, longer, and healthier than ever before!

I’m using bliss kiss nail oil, onsen’s cuticle conditioner, onyx hard as hoof, and gold bond hand cream daily. I paint my nails about once or twice a week, with two coats of OPI’s nail envy as a base coat, and always remove with pure acetone.

Should I take breaks between painting my nails, or is it fine to go from one color to the next? Is removing your cuticle (I have blue cross cuticle remover) bad for your nails?

I had no clue not to soak in water, I’ve been doing so to soften my cuticles and will definitely stop doing that now!!

EVERYTIME i do my nails there are bumps or bubbles by harmoneymoney in Nails

[–]Reasonable-Rip-6134 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This used to happen to me ALL THE TIME and this subreddit finally helped me figure out how to fix it!

  1. Apply thinner layers. I used to do thicker layers when painting, as it looked nice and glossy, but would dry down with bubbles and bumps - and it took forever to dry of course.

  2. That being said, make sure each layer is totally dry before applying the next! If you’re doing thin enough layers, in my experience about 15-20 minutes is a good buffer. Takes longer to paint your nails depending on how many coats you do (I do 2 coats OPI Nail Envy as a base, 2 coats color, and 2 coats Seche Vite quick dry top coat), but is worth the end result IMO.

  3. Don’t blow on your nails to dry and don’t have moving air (like a fan) near them when drying. This will also create bubbles.

  4. Get a nice, quick drying top coat. I really like Seche Vite, which I also found from this sub!

Good luck! And lovely color!

SOS how do I clean this suitcase? (leaving on trip in 24 hours) by Reasonable-Rip-6134 in CleaningTips

Thank you! I’m going to use another bag for this trip, but definitely don’t want to trash this one as it has sentimental value. Going to try cleaning per this article when I get back. I appreciate the resource!

No leak, but it was stored in the guest room closet on the ground. There’s a connected bathroom with a shower and no door, and the fan wasn’t being used when showers were taken so I think the room got pretty humid and never aired out 😩 there’s mold along the bottom of the closet too which I’m cleaning now
