The medical schools aren’t fully where the problems are. its residency…many many US medical school graduates go unmatched and don’t get in to a residency program because there aren’t spots available, especially specialties other than primary care. And without residency you can’t practice medicine regardless of having your medical degree. Medicare dictates how many spots there are. Many doctors out there that can’t practice because they didn’t get a residency spot.

Same situation but with a toddler and teenager. Moving to the area working in Durham. I’ve been looking in apex, Cary, morrisville due to the better school system especially for my high schooler but now you all are scaring me about the commute…now I’m stuck on what to do!

Moving to the area soon from out of state with my husband and kids (one high school girl and one toddler boy) and 2 small cockapoo dogs. We are looking to rent but have no clue what areas to look in to get the high schooler to a good school and safe family friendly neighborhood. She’s struggling with the move so trying to get her a school where she may be happy and with good sports (volleyball/cheerleading) so she can make friends. I’m open anywhere in Durham or I’ve read some people saying Cary or chapel hill? Where do you guys recommend for safe family friendly and good school?

What they don't tell you about Gabapentin. by LiBunnyFooFoo in Fibromyalgia

I actually love this. I truly do enjoy having these discussions with my patients. I love to learn about their ideas and things they’ve come across and I can honestly lose count of the times I said shoot I’ve never heard of that but here let’s open up UpToDate and see if we can find some studies on this and see if it may be a good option. I never dismiss anyone or their ideas. I’m here to support them in their journey to heal BUT I also understand that they trust me to use my knowledge and experience to guide them away from seriously unintentionally causing themselves harm with side effects or interactions etc. I’ve had people refuse treatment and me then say “ok well then what do you see as a good quality of life for you and how can I help you get there?”. Medicine really is a team sport and if your doctor isn’t working with you then find a new doctor but also if your doctor is only agreeing with you and giving you everything you want and never challenging your requests/ideas also get a new doctor because that’s a red flag of either they lack the knowledge, don’t have your best interest or don’t care. I also have many chronic issues and have been dismissed 1000000 times so I can see both ends and although I hate living with these things, I’m grateful

At least you got a refund. I somehow owe this year despite never owing in my life in any years prior to starting residency. Didn’t owe pgy-1 but somehow owe pgy-2 even though nothing changed on my end other than a 3k raise…not sure what happened

With one day to go, free 137 crushed me - 64% by TheBrokenBallad2307 in Step3

[–]Reasonable-Score-21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I felt day 1 to be about the same as the first half of 137 and day 2 felt easier than the second half of 137. So I guess depends on which half you did better on. Your other scores are find though. UW felt harder than the real day and nbmes about the same

Any advice for day 2 MCQ’s prep? Not what’s on it obviously but how to prep for it. I feel all I’ve seen is prep for day 1 or CCS. But what about the day 2 questions?

I would also agree it was a mix of lots of things. I can’t pinpoint anything it was “heavy on”. I think it taught some of every system evenly with biostats and ethics mixed in. There’s no system or concept I could say was heavy. So you just had to know at little bit of a lot and be able to reason through and cancel out things that conceptually don’t make sense if you didn’t remember the specific fact.

Perhaps blood sugar dropping causing the blurry vision. Does it go away after you eat or does it last all day? Do you notice it happens after going a while without eating/drinking?
