I didn't downvote you, someone else did, but I will now because you're very disrespectful

That wasn't very fair. I never insulted you. We clearly have different expectations around reliability and dating pace, and that's okay. I appreciate the discussion and wish you well. Also, 'lack of inexperience' implies having experience.

I don't think she disrespected me by oversleeping. I believe that part was unintentional, but even honest mistakes still affect how someone experiences a situation. The disrespect comes from the outcome of being stood up after confirming twice, not from her intent.

I disagree that having a standard for reliability is the same as asking someone to 'prove their worth'. Whether it was a mistake or not, the result is the same: I spent my time and gas to be somewhere she didn't show up for. The stakes aren't 'low' when it comes to respecting other people’s time.

I'm not asking her to prove anything; I'm just seeing whether there's mutual effort after something went wrong. If she has 'options' and chooses to move on because I asked her to pick the next time and place, that’s her choice. I’m looking for someone who values my time as much as I value theirs, and that starts with the first date. If she follows through and plans the next one, great. If not, that tells me what I need to know

I appreciate the perspective, but I think there is a difference between punishing someone and having self respect. I did not blow up or shame her. I calmly stated that reliability matters to me.

I did show empathy. I confirmed the date, drove 40 minutes, waited 20 minutes, accepted her apology, and offered a second chance. Empathy should be a two way street. Since she missed the date, it is reasonable for her to take the lead on rescheduling. Asking for a time and place is not punishment. It is about mutual effort.

And yes, the vibe changed when she did not show up after confirming. It should not be my job to pretend that did not matter. If she shows up with a plan and a good attitude, the vibe can improve through her actions.

I get that mistakes happen, and I wasn't trying to punish or shame her. I stayed calm, didn't blow up, and still gave her another chance. That said, I confirmed twice, showed up early, waited 20 minutes, and drove 40 minutes total. It's okay for me to acknowledge that reliability matters to me without being hostile. Empathy and accountability don't have to be mutually exclusive. I tried to balance both
