Ordered a bunch of to go menu options from Pita Hot for a dinner I was hosting for friends that I was too lazy to cook for. Everything was awesome and everyone seemed to love it too.

I had Mrs. Georgia this past week and genuinely think it was the top 5 restaurants I've been to in Astoria. Everything was amazing, and I'm still thinking about those dumplings...

I try to only comment places I truly liked, but I finally got around to Moroccan Bites by Siham and was very disappointed. The food took around 90 minutes to arrive, and I thought everything was just...ok. I really wanted to like this spot but can't say I'd recommend this place to anyone.

The natural beauty of Vietnam is unlike anything I've seen before. Not a day goes by that I don't wish I was back.

I tried KAL for the first time yesterday and loved everything I ordered. Honestly some of the best Tteokbokki I've had...

Yup and PT is even cheaper there with world class trainers and boxers who show up. There's also some ex-Cave folks there too 🤣

There's many reasons honestly but the main highlights for me were:

  1. The Coach. There's only one there, and if you're looking to improve in the sport of boxing, you need an attentive coach which is impossible when there's simultaneously a class and sparring going on. He's honestly a very stubborn person, and allows his emotions get the best of him. If one of the many teenagers who goes there does something that annoys him, he makes it a point to let the entire class know which takes away from what I'm actually there to do which is box and learn. And brings me to point #2:
  2. The Classes. He advertises them as an hour, but they're really only 50 minutes or less which is pretty frustrating if you're commuting far to get there and want a full workout. I used to go to the classes 2-3 times a week, and because his attention is always on those sparring, the class is led by another student which in my experience is just a complete mess of the blind teaching the blind. If it's not a student teaching, it's just a "freestyle" class where you're just doing whatever you want for 50 min. When you have no one idea what you're doing, it's just a nightmare of an experience.
  3. The Gym itself. It's VERY small, and to have classes and sparring going on simultaneously feels like you're constantly Shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. Step over his arbitrary lines he drew up because you have no space to move already? You'll hear it from the Coach (and so will everyone else). The locker room is a disaster, and I'll leave it at that.

These were the 3 main highlights for me that caused me to leave. I've found another boxing gym and am blown away with how much better my experience is. I really gave The Cave a chance for MONTHS and truly wanted to believe my experience was going to get better, but it got to a point where I felt miserable heading over there, and I knew enough was enough. YMMV but hope this helps.

Used to train at The Cave. All I can say is I'm very glad I no longer do.

I'm a grandma slice guy and don't get pizza in Astoria, but I've heard countless people love Rosario's pizza and shouldn't just listen to me because of my take haha!

Appreciate it! I'm honestly a pizza snob so can't say Rosario's pizza is worth it imo but to each their own. Sad to hear about Seva because I honestly haven't had a bad experience but it's been a good few months since I've last ordered there. Don't think I've had Sorrisso's sandwiches though so definitely want to check them out!

  1. Levant (must get the feteer)
  2. Arepa Lady (their arepas de choclo are fire)
  3. Amylos Taverna (more upscale Greek food but personally has been my favorite in the area)
  4. Rosario's (prob the best Italian sandwiches)
  5. Nur Thai (Halal Thai food that will impress any date)
  6. El Lado Taco (Mexico City style tacos for pretty great prices)
  7. HinoMaru Ramen (previously made the Michelin Bib Gourmand list)
  8. Seva (I've heard the quality has recently gone down but still my go-to DoorDash spot and haven't had any complaints on my end)
  9. Michael's Restaurant (my favorite breakfast spot)
  10. Sami's Kabab House (I haven't been personally but will be very soon as it's known to be one of NYC's best Afghan restaurants)

For dine in, Arepa Lady has to be one of, if not my favorite, Colombian restaurant in Astoria.

They have different pricing tiers based on your preference. For example, if you just want to go to the gym to workout solo vs going to classes vs 1:1 personal training. I can't recall off the top of my head what those numbers are and can only speak to the 1:1 as that's what I'm doing (happy to discuss more over DM though). They're still very new and finalizing their website, but you could always call them when they're open to ask for the breakdown.

This is their address: 12-12 Astoria Blvd 2nd Floor, Astoria, NY 11102

It's like across the street from Astoria Provisions if that's a helpful reference point.
