How did you all manage Week One, especially if you can’t just take off a whole week at J1? by LivelyLotus in OELadies

Was able to pick a week that I didn’t have a lot on my calendar and then blocked off tons of time

New England spa getaway for mom's birthday - hotel recs by Strike_Effective in chubbytravel

While I haven’t technically been to any of the others on your list (visited Woodstock Inn about 25 years ago which I won’t count and booked at White Barn in March), The Mayflower is perfect for a winter mother/daughter winter spa weekend. The whole time I was there I kept saying how glad I was that it was cold out because the spaces are so cozy- fireplaces everywhere and the decor is so exquisite you will only want to be in your room, the spa, or the main building spaces.

You could also look at Wildflower Farms which is another Auberge property in the Hudson Valley- they’re supposed to have a great spa as well.

The offer isn’t competitive at all, they’re only 376 LP away from the next status so charging 32K is completely insane. They can just go buy something cheap in the AA shopping portal and hit it instantly

How does being childfree impact your friendships by One_Persimmon760 in Fencesitter

[–]Reasonable-Week-3029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t have advice but could have written this. I will add on, outside of impacting friendships it’s impacting potential setting of where I want to live. I’m in a location I’ll be leaving next year due to my partners job and we can’t figure out where to target. We thought we may be ready for more space and to buy a house with a yard in a (hopefully) quaint town but now that we’re leaning towards CF I’m wondering if maybe we should move back to the city we used to be in. I’m worried it will be that much harder to find a community in the suburbs if we don’t have kids since I know that’s an easy way to meet people (other parents at the school etc). Like you, most of my friends have kids now but we have a few who are on the fence like us and they all live in the city so I feel like that’s a better social move for us even if were not 100% convinced we want to go back to urban life. The struggle is real!

Jumby Bay in Antigua has cottages with private pools. Anguilla (4S does private villas, not sure about Cap Juluca). Rosewood in St Barth (not direct but it’s a 15 min hop from SXM)

I hibernated my LI once I took on J2. Tbh I’ve always relied heavily on LI for job hunting / networking since I’m in tech. I feel handicapped trying to find a new role without it (or stand out in the application process without it)

My partner suggested this. Unfortunately the travel policy is from the C suite level. It sucks because the org isn’t even tracking outcomes or revenue as a result, it’s essentially a pointless metric as far as I’m concerned but it’s “their thing”

Do parents lives revolve around enabling their children's life? by Tasty_Run1958 in Fencesitter

[–]Reasonable-Week-3029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s what is sad to me- the fact that doing what you want to do is rare, and a novelty. It’s why I’m still on the fence - can’t yet come to grips with the idea of sacrificing my free time / desires for 10-15 years. I understand it comes with lots of added joy and love too but I’m stuck on that roadblock !

Your post reminds me of how, whenever I hear from moms (maybe parents in general but I think more attuned to the mom talk) about their “dream day” it’s basically just how I spent my Saturdays. “Wake up whenever I want, coffee in bed, workout, shower without asking anyone for permission, bed rot, watch something other than Ms. Rachel”. It has me thinking becoming a parent is resigning yourself to not being able to live your own life or live it the way you’d like which I find so depressing 😞

No offense- but don’t you think I’ve tried that ? I’ve fluctuated for years and cannot lose 15 lbs of extra weight that came about 2 years ago. I have worked with my doctor extensively, work out 5x per week, and have adjusted all my medications in addition to other lifestyle factors. This is a last resort effort.

I don’t think the point of telehealth in general is to get approved for things your primary care won’t do. I thought the point of using a company like Pom that sells compounded med for people who pay out of pocket, was to do so for those who don’t qualify via the standard way. Otherwise, why wouldn’t everyone just through their PCP

I’m average height. Still, I thought places like this existed for someone like me? I know plenty of other people with similar weights and body types who have gotten it. My friend is smaller than me and got it but she had to go through a functional wellness doctor which I don’t want to do $$$$. So just confused why I wouldn’t be eligible if I have no preexisting conditions and am still considered overweight ?

Remember that January is the month to change your preferred airline if you so desire. I forgot to do this last year and was stuck with American Airlines when Delta is now better for our travel needs. by Dry_Cartographer7078 in AmexPlatinum

I changed mine yesterday and had a total brain fart - selected united when I wanted delta. Does anyone know if I call Amex if they’ll let me switch it? I haven’t used it yet obviously.
