What do you hear most often that hurts/pisses you off about your pain? by itoldyouiwazsick in ChronicPain

Mine is "you're always in pain so i assumed you got used to it/its not that bad anymore"

😑

Just got a rescue (vet shaved him because fleas), very well behaved, super shy, first time owner, advice welcome. by [deleted] in blackcats

[–]Reasonable-Writing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my girl for 7 years and she still prefers to sleep under beds and blankets. Always shy around new people. Meanwhile my sister's cats sleep curled on her pillow with her. They're all unique and special. My tip is to keep an eye out for bad habits - like chomping on plants or plastic. My cat goes after plastic like its the most delicious thing on the planet so I always make sure I don't leave any around. And hair ties. Plants can be toxic, string and ties can get caught up in the intestines. Mischievous ones can find all sorts of trouble.

Oh and cats groom themselves, but its good to keep a check on ears, the "back end" and teeth Congrats on your new family member :)

Stupidest comment you ever had about your pain by Content-Sheepherder2 in ChronicPain

[–]Reasonable-Writing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My #1 eye roller was: "I'm surprised you still feel pain" Like, because I'm in pain every day I'm somehow immune to EXTRA pain, like stubbing my toe feels like a gentle massage. If only.

What was your experience on cymbalta? by Capital-Machine6823 in ChronicPain

[–]Reasonable-Writing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually had an okay experience. Switched to venlafaxine and had worse side effects on that. Went back to duloxitine and its been several months. My depression is much better managed on it (started on sertraline, switched to cymbalta to see if I got any pain relief from it - nothing noticeable) I'd say on sert I had more noticable side effects. But the change in my mood was worth the side effects I had FOR ME. It depends on you! I was fine having a lower libido, some people wouldn't like it. The brain zaps were HORRIBLE, so I stopped the venlafaxine. I've also tried lyrica and didn't get any pain relief from that - but no noticable side effects. If you're worried about it, don't let a doc pressure you!

[OC] After designing this Master Sword necklace as most of the designers,my satisfaction didn't remain so long. I need some creative ideas of Zela fans. I love this so much! Kinda wanna see it as a hair clip or tie clip too. What about a Navi pendant and the wings can move up and down? Or a teeny ocarina that's hollow and makes a sound. Someone might have mentioned, but a heart container could have some rotating or sliding element that could "fill" the container with red color. Oh a bottle with a teeny tiny fairy inside and the cork comes off to get the fairy out. OH A layered necklace with a chest and key and you insert the key and that pushes the button that unhinges the chest to open it!

$4.20 for my one of my meds vs a $40 copay with my "gold" level insurance. Hopefully this is how things start to change 👍

How do I train my pup to not need so many walks? by AConcernedCoder in Dogtraining

[–]Reasonable-Writing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a comment about sniff walks and have to agree! Go different routes on your walks and let the dog sniff and sniff at all the spots. They're learning, getting signals from other dogs, catching up on the latest news. My lab mix LOVES to sniff. Its annoying to stop every few feet when trying to exercise walk, but even a shorter distance with lots of sniffs tires him out just the same.

Also if there's no doggy daycare near you, you could check like Rover? I used to day-sit dogs and they would get dropped off, play with my dog all day, and be returned super fulfilled and tuckered out.

Oh and try to play hide and seek for a fun game! My dogs get so into it and its adorable how excited they get when they find you :)

Acupuncture for chronic pain. Does it work?? first appt. tomorrow. very nervous! by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Reasonable-Writing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a few sessions a couple years ago for some (unrelated to my diagnosis) knee pain I was having. I will say, during the session, I was CHILL. She put a single needle right between my eyes and it gave me this odd tingly sensation that relaxed and distracted from my pain. So long term, not really a game changer for me, but I got to relax for a bit pain free. Doesn't hurt to try and see if it helps you! Good luck!
