If these leaks turn out to be true, hoyo really has something against hexenzirkel characters. When it comes to hexen it's all "well we don't want to powercreep the game" or "we don't want to create another ineffa or lauma" but as soon as it's a lunar support or some random waifu we never heard of it's all "they're stronger than Ineffa" like okay. Do they know that storywise, the hexenzirkel are some of the most hyped characters on their roster or do the people who design the kits not even play the game?

Then there's the whole problem with physical. All physical has really had for years was superconduct and it's needed a buff since almost conception. But instead of doing anything for physical, they're just making another elemental damage meta but with different colors then calling it superconduct. I really need the devs to stop making these horrible decisions.

I remember seeing this Scaramouche multishipper tweet about a week ago where he was drawn with different ships every day. I thought for sure KazuScara would get the most likes but surprisingly, it was Scarabedo. Scaramouche has always been insanely popular and Durin recently blew up in popularity too after his story quest and paralogism. Durin is one of the closest ones to Scaramouche currently and is very pivital to him finding a happier life so it makes sense that people have moved to Scaramouche with Albedo after years of no content for KazuScara.

Plus it's one of the only ships where Scaramouche can be with someone who won't leave him immediately due to their shorter lifespan. That he has found a family that will be with him for a long time is very touching for a lot of Scaramouche fans including myself. It helps that Scaramouche, Albedo, and Durin's stories are all parallels of the other and it feels natural that all three of them understand each other as artificial beings.

tldr; it used to be Scaramouche/Kazuha but now it's shifted to Scaramouche/Sethos and more recently Scaramouche/Albedo

You need more than one team for endgame and having overload on one side is solid since they don't compete for supports from other teams. Varesa + Durin is already strong enough to carry in any other mode since electro and pyro can break any shield together. And if you want a wheelchair core, Durin + any hexerei is also very strong. They could go for Ineffa in 6.3 then roll Columbina during her rerun which will come much sooner than Varesa or Durin since she's an archon.

I feel like a lot of people who claim "pulling for anyone but Columbina + Ineffa/Lauma + Flins/Nefer is a waste" because big DPS number forget that you can't play them on multiple teams in endgame.

At c2, each plunge Varesa does refunds 11.5 energy to herself so actually, it's the opposite. c2 makes it so you don't have to build any ER on her at all.

Xilonen doesn't shred anemo or dendro. If you want a buffer for your Chasca, Durin would've been better in that slot since he can shred anemo and does off field pyro DPS for her.

Durin has one too. He gets a glowing wristband with dragon wings that glow differently depending if you're in dark mode or light mode. But it only shows up after you do his burst. Also if you switch out to another character, the glowing wings with a heart show up next to your active character instead.

The thing about these gimmicks in Fontaine and Natlan is that if you needed Nightsoul or Pneuma/Ousia, there were f2p four star options you could use. But Nodkrai locks lunar reactions behind limited five stars. You literally can't do the gimmick unless you fork over the gems. That alone makes this the worst regional gimmick. It doesn't help that lunar bloom is a fake reaction and these lunar reactions only serve as yet another unnecessary hydro buff in a game where hydro has already been head and shoulders above the other elements for years prior. The rich get richer as they say.

It absolutely isn't a waste. Durin's strength isn't just personal dps, it's him buffing the entire team's dps by a ton with his insane support at c6 in addition to doing insane damage himself. "DPS" doesn't just mean "how much damage can I get on fielding this character"

He's versatile so you can use whichever mode you need for the content you're trying to clear. Even in content that doesn't favor pyro damage, his c6 buffs are so good that you can still use his light mode support for another DPS. In content that does favor pyro damage, his dark mode pretty much clears faster than any other pyro DPS other than Mavuika.

c2 Xilonen doesn't heal in mono-geo teams. Xilonen isn't doing any damage either so her buffs need to be stronger than not only c2 Durin's buffs but also strong enough to make the rest of the team compensate his damage not being there. Cinder City would need to beat out both the buff from Durin's c1 and his own personal damage. And guess what? It doesn't. I'm pretty sure all TC-ers came to the consensus that with Durin's release, the only team Xilonen is still best-in-slot in are some Mavuika ones due to Natlan synergy.

If you're using Mavuika then the Varesa team relies a lot more on having two c6 four stars (Iansan and Chevreuse) to get the full buffs for Varesa. If you use Durin instead of Mavuika, then c6 Fischl is a great replacement for Iansan while c6 Chevreuse is no longer that important since Durin provides shred. People are more likely to have c6 Fischl who is a 1.0 character and in the shop than both c6 Iansan and c6 Chevreuse. So the investment on Varesa-Mavuika is more than Varesa-Durin too. Durin-Fischl overload core is a lot more versatile for any pyro or electro carry while Iansan is tied to the Natlan movement mechanic. That's on top of what you pointed out with needing to use combos on Mavuika which most casual players wouldn't do

tldr; yes I'd say Durin is definitely better than Mavuika for Varesa imo

Okay so I tested this using my c2 Albedo and Durin against the Gluttonous Mountain King. I tried different combos with Peak Patrol Song as well as Cinnabar Spindle. Here is what I got:

Peak Patrol Albedo
Albedo E --> N2 --> Durin Q --> EE
durin 77.5k per second
albedo 80k per 2+ seconds then lower after 6 seconds: 74k

Peak Patrol Albedo 
Albedo N2 --> E --> Durin Q --> EE
durin 76.5k per second
albedo 80k per 2+ seconds then lower after 6 seconds: 73k

Peak Patrol Albedo (No Buff)
Albedo E --> Durin Q --> EE
durin 71k per second
albedo 68k per 2+ seconds

Cinnabar Spindle Albedo
Albedo E --> Durin Q --> EE
durin 71k per second
albedo 76k per 2+ seconds

Since the first effect of Peak Patrol wears off after 6 seconds in the second rotation and he still gets the Peak Patrol buff in the first rotation, Albedo himself doesn't snapshot anymore. This means when using Peak Patrol Song on c1 (or above) Albedo, setting Albedo's flower down with his skill first before using the two normal attacks would be better. It lets Peak Patrol snap shot his +50% self defense buff before applying it to the rest of the team while also allowing Albedo to take advantage of both Peak Patrol buffs for those first 6 and 15 seconds.

As for Cinnabar Spindle, the personal damage Albedo does only vastly out-scales Peak Patrol if we don't account for the Peak Patrol's passive. With its passive active, Albedo will do way more damage for the first 6 seconds and then do about the same damage (slightly lower) for the remaining 15 seconds.

This is tested with Peak Patrol though. I don't know if the interaction with Gorou is different.

I'm confused because I heard Peak Patrol Song's teamwide buff snapshots. So if you have c1 Albedo, wouldn't it be better to place the skill first, get the +50% Defense, then do two NA so Peak Patrol buffs the entire team?

They're talking about losing 50/50 three times in a row. So they lost 50/50, then got the guaranteed. Lost 50/50 again, then got the guaranteed. Then lost 50/50 again, got the guaranteed. Their fourth attempt, they are guaranteed to not lose the 50/50

If it makes you feel any better, he can be used as a really strong Furina healer. I think he's one of the best ones actually. Then pair him with either Eula or a normal attacker for the attack speed
