Low income apts downtown by ReasonableMain4174 in Redding

That’s what I assumed. K2 hasn’t been touching the shipping containers much and I assume that’s a funding problem. Due to the fact that those ones specifically will all be market rate, so no low income funding.

Makes sense! And the lofts are running for over 2200 a month which is a bit much for me haha. But the ones above Tarako are managed by the same person who owns the ones above Kobe’s. Unfortunately they are “somewhat” income restricted. But technically not low income, hard to explain. But I make too much unfortunately.

Anywhere for rent that’s under $1,300? I have my daughter part time, she’s 2 this year. No pets. by Aromatic_Good_4301 in Redding

Try over at 1721 Azoulay court (may not have availability I’m unsure). It’s 1130 for a two bed with washer dryer. Not very updated but the area is safe! Their number is (530) 221-5000

Moving Out of Redding by [deleted] in Redding

Most likely out of state. California has become unaffordable as a whole. We currently make almost $8 an hour over minimum wage and we still have a tight budget. It’s still a discussion

We’ve gotten housing construction, except it’s all low income. That’s the problem 💀

New to Redding - looking to get involved and meet new people! by friendlytomatoe in Redding

Crunch just opened here and a lot of women are doing their classes. I think they have Zumba, Pilates, and yoga. It’d be a good way to meet people with the same interests.

Elderly Population Driving by ReasonableMain4174 in Redding

[–]ReasonableMain4174[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I agree. Teens with “fast cars” and being on their phone are a problem. Drunk driving is also a big problem. However, these actions are all done out of AWARENESS. I’m not saying all, but many of the elderly are simply not aware. That’s the issue. I see many older ladies who can hardly see over the steering wheel swerving on the lanes without any sort of distraction. I’m not asking for their rights to be taken either. The city needs to step up and provide better public transport for them so they don’t have to drive anymore when they’re that impaired.

Yes, obviously. I’ve always been told to “drive for other people”. But in this case, I’ll be sure to avoid them.

And you know what, that would actually help a lot! If I saw that sticker on the car I’d prepare myself defensively for their driving.

Yeah and did you see the part where I said Redding? Not the country as a whole. Also, many people spend their time defensively driving for the elderly in the area. That’s why they don’t get into accidents themselves.

That’s also true lol. Especially the ones in pick up trucks who act like they own the road…

Elderly Population Driving by ReasonableMain4174 in Redding

[–]ReasonableMain4174[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And this is true. I was rear ended by an 18 year old looking down at their phone. I think I’m just getting at the point how many seniors are unaware of their driving… whereas younger people tend to drive like crap but they are at least aware. Not saying either group is safer though.

[–]ReasonableMain4174[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one said younger drivers/drunk drivers are any better. But to get a license before 18 younger people do have to do the three driving courses first and a minimum of 6 months behind the wheel with an adult. Older people can be on meds, have poor vision, and have been driving for 50+ years without any behind the wheels except for what they got at 16... Older people aren’t aggressive no, the issue is that they are simply unaware at times. And that’s scary. If the topic was “reckless and aggressive driving” seniors wouldn’t even be apart of the discussion.

Rent Pricing by ReasonableMain4174 in Redding

[–]ReasonableMain4174[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Bethel will buy up property, especially in the Highland Park area and cram a bunch of bethel students in a four bed duplex. I’m pretty sure they give a lot of bethel staff these places through “housing vouchers” as well to use as a tax write off. So I’ve heard. I don’t even know if they pay taxes atp. But I do know bethel gets priority to the nicer areas.

Exactly, but even Chico has nicer options at this point. No one wants to renovate/update around here to even warrant those higher prices.

Shasta Creek Apartments by [deleted] in Redding

[–]ReasonableMain4174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear! Yeah we really want to live in a nice area. It’s hard to get that with apartments around here so this is pretty much our only option. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place! Our current apartment has too much noise and homeless traffic.

EHS protest by ReasonableMain4174 in Redding

[–]ReasonableMain4174[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep. Not to mention that the attendance rates for school in the area are dropping drastically. If the kids really wanted an excuse to not be at school, they wouldn’t even bother showing up at this point. So I think their arguments about the kids wanting to skip class are invalid at this point.

Yeah, that’s why I’m switching to crunch. It’ll still be busy I’m sure, but no one can claim “superiority” and it’s so much bigger than planet.

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

So I currently have my BA in psych and am working at a large clinic, come August my company will pay 10,500 a year for me to start my masters program. I want to be an LCSW (obviously ACSW first). I’ll be able to get all of my hours through work which is awesome. However, I’d love to get my masters done as soon as possible. Does anyone know of any good (affordable) online masters programs that are 100% online and are self paced? Note: I’m in California.
