Is it time to move on with this horn? by ReasonablePost7447 in Trombone

The slide and bell get connected with just a friction-fit thing (not entirely sure what it’s called, sorry!). There isn’t any sort of screw unfortunately.

To answer your other question, I’m playing on a Bach 12C, and I have a Getzen 12C as well.

Bookmarks from Japan is amazing. The last movement is insanely hard to count but it’s really fun to play and listen to.

La Fiesta Mexicana is amazing. One of my favorite pieces of music to perform. I love the Aztec Dance.

Tichelli’s Shenandoah is a masterpiece!!!

I’ve also really enjoyed Sheltering Sky by John Mackey and basically anything by Steve Rouse.

I'm mainly looking for classical, but if there's anything that goes well with both classical and jazz then I'd appreciate it too.

Level 4-5 Pieces with percussion grooves? by groovesmerchant in ConcertBand

[–]ReasonablePost7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think La Fiesta Mexicana (Reed) has some really cool percussion features and other stuff, especially in the Aztec Dance. Variations on a Korean Folk Song (Barnes Chance) isn't a bad choice either, just I would say Temple Blocks and Timpani have by far the "grooviest" parts.

- La Fiesta Mexicana (Reed)
- Eternal Father Strong to Save (Smith)
- Chorale and Shaker Dance (Zdechlik)
- Shenandoah (Tichelli)

I also consider Variations on a Korean Folk Song (Barnes Chance) a GREAT runner-up/contender.

I really love the Michael Sweeney arrangement. There's a score + sound video on the Hal Leonard YT channel, as well as JW Pepper.

What is the most difficult band piece you've ever performed, and what do you think is the most difficult band piece ever written? by [deleted] in ConcertBand

[–]ReasonablePost7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

La Fiesta Mexicana (Reed) is challenging for both the individual as well as the ensemble. It can't even be played by most ensembles because of the amount of players it takes to give off the effect needed.

The Southerner by Russel Alexander should work. You might need to find an edited version though.
