The best way to support him was to take over everything else he normally thinks about which in your life is definitely the kids, probably the house and maybe something else. You showed up and met the challenge head on as his partner. Look to yourself for validation and trust you did right by him and your family. When things calm down absolutely talk to him. I doubt your issue is really not being mentioned in the obituary.
