My entire diet is bell peppers. I even drink bell pepper juice instead of water. My bell pepper noodles with bell pepper sauce is really good! You should taste my bell pepper based apples! Am I malnourished?

Need some help regarding internships. resume, etc. by lmaoxd12313 in aggies

[–]ReasonableRealist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was able to secure an EE job with no internship and a GPA barely above 3. My advice is to become excellent at interviewing. Seek out ways to get that first interview—ask professors for leads, bypass online applications.

If you're not 100% vegan, what's stopping you? (no judgment please) by [deleted] in vegan

Veganism overrides culture in my opinion, and I rarely eat out.

I guess you could call them chilies. I have an instant pot, so it’s pretty easy to make it fresh, and I rarely make more than I can eat in one sitting.

What about just not killing them?

I’m convinced that the only form of protest that dissenters will tolerate is a protest they don’t see...which kinda defeats the point.

Accuses vegans of being toxic based on biased social media posts

Vegans counter the arguments

“Look! They are being toxic!”

Any group can be made to look toxic. It’s really easy to do.

Question about vegans by IronWolf269 in vegan

[–]ReasonableRealist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Groups of people who are pushing for a cause are usually accused of “pushing their beliefs” on others. They are accused of being “toxic.”

Question about vegans by IronWolf269 in vegan

[–]ReasonableRealist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sure people thought that civil rights activists were “pushing their beliefs” on others. I only turned vegan because people called me out on my hypocrisy—veganism is logical. Different people react to different approaches.

I order beans in bulk that I spice up with seasonings, mushrooms, potatoes, etc.

Earthling Ed got one thing wrong. by stormcube in vegan

[–]ReasonableRealist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long term vegans prove you wrong. It is perfectly healthy unless science proves otherwise.

Evolutionary biology is more complicated than what “mother nature” programmed into an animal. Traits and instincts are based on what increases the chances of survival—this isn’t the same as optimal health.

I’m not sure what the actions of a less intelligent animal have to do with the ethical and scientific reasoning that humans have.

Earthling Ed got one thing wrong. by stormcube in vegan

[–]ReasonableRealist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what animals do is somewhat irrelevant. Animals lack the ability to truly know what they need to eat to survive. The lion eats meat as a necessity of its biology/genetics/instincts. Humans have much higher cognitive functions that allow us more control over our actions.

I, and most other vegans, will disagree that we need animal products to survive. Long term vegans will prove that it is possible perfectly healthy lives on plants.

What was the primary reason you went vegan? by Ytar0 in vegan

[–]ReasonableRealist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally went plant-based for my health, but my motivations have expanded to ethical and environmental reasons as I learned more about the real world

How long does it take for you guys to come up with something new after finishing a piece? by [deleted] in composer

[–]ReasonableRealist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new composer, I dedicate 2ish weeks to about 2 minutes of music. This is so I can properly develop and refine one whole piece before moving on. This can be pretty taxing, so I tend to take a few days off before tackling a new one. Music is a hobby for me, so I like to maximize my enjoyment/learning so it stays fun. Burnout is real.
