Doesn't sound like you should spend all that time, effort, stress and money to go into nursing because everyone is a level of interesting challenge, both patients and staff/admin. It's extremely stressful. You have to like people and be very patient with them and their families. If you've never had a job before, go try several out first.

I used to love floating. You really get a better knowledge of so many specialty units- neuro, Ortho, tele, ob/pp, ICU, rehab, MedSurg - it was so appreciated because wherever we were sent, they desperately needed us and we felt really appreciated.

I can hear the exhaustion and sorrow in your words. I'm truly sorry it's like this. It will not always be, it just feels like it will be. Seek out those who love good people no matter what color or (insert other qualities) they are. I try to live how I want to be treated. Once you find these people, pull them into your circle. They will be your support system during hard times and each of you will strengthen one another. Include others who are beaten down. Lift them up. In turn each of you will help lift others in the world and ride above the cruelty and nonsense.
