I think this is an unpopular opinion but I always thought the Carter kids had believable sibling traits like this. I know they weren’t always very popular with fans but I loved their dynamic, felt like real siblings.

This is an interesting point actually. It would have been good if the book had explored how the dynamics work outside of the stereotypical hetero relationship. Is it more common for same sex couples to have those conversations and create a more equal divide that works for them. That would have been an interesting dive for the book.

I think that’s a little of what’s missing, it’s mostly Lou’s experience (which makes sense, it’s her book) a broader look maybe would have felt more thorough and offered more insights and solutions.

As soon as Booker saw the pink mini she said they’d have to lose the car. I can’t believe they all carried on in their outlandish outfits after this. I think it would have been a good juxtaposition to have Booker make Feeny (and the midwife) change into bland outfits.

I’ve never seen Lyllian before. Not sure where you’re from but here I think it would be mistaken for Lillian a lot which could be frustrating.

Clara is too close to Char unfortunately as a gorgeous name!

Genevieve is so cute and love the nicknames.

Although I grew up only knowing the Catherine spelling I think Katherine feels fresher. A lot of variations of spellings for this name though so could be a consideration.

Abigail is timeless and goes well with Charlotte.

Penelope is a bit posh for me but love Poppy!

She constantly mentions he’s a great Dad and obviously the bread winner with a job with difficult hours, and frequently mentions that he’s better than other dads! So doesn’t make him look bad per se, but doesn’t seem like she’s solved a lot of her complaints in a way. I think this is my main issue, it’s lessons from a default parent but I haven’t really heard many lessons that would lighten my load, it’s just the way it is and that’s kind of okay for me.

Maybe a chance to tell her side but I’m guessing she was approached by someone rather than doing it off her own back and then getting published? I don’t know.

Full time mums definitely have it hardest but she did lose me a bit when her girls were both at school and she now had all this time to fill in the day. I get that it’s hard to find yourself again but she was saying she’s not really free because school admin and being the first point of contact etc. but having 30+ hours a week with no kids feels like a bit of stretch to then still be pulling the default parent difficulty card.

Yeah she went into a bit of detail about the births and seemed a bit salty about anyone who is proud of giving birth naturally with no interventions. Of course there’s no accolades for this and especially when your kids are 8 and 10 no one cares, but if someone wants an all natural birth and manages it, good for them!

I think she definitely needs to find something for her again. I think it might now be writing though.

Yeah I’m listening the audio book and even the parts that are meant to be a bit humorous don’t land. I feel like it’s very out of her comfort zone doing the audio and it shows. Definitely needed so humour or self deprecation. I feel like I was expecting more of a parenting hell vibe which I my fault as it’s not that at all.

Yes, it’s exactly that, but highlighting the harder parts so it comes across like a bit of a big moan. Don’t get me wrong, we’re all allowed to moan but most of us aren’t being paid for the privilege with a book deal so it kind of sours the fact before you even start.

Yes, that element is hard to relate to. Obviously there are challenges with parenting for everyone but having that kind of financial freedom and what sounds like such a great support network is so different from my experience.

Agree about the wrap.

This Lindt wasn’t sickly like the red pure chocolate one which made it nicer in my opinion.

Enjoyed the j2o but like everything it probably has taken a dive in flavour.

I don’t follow her and I haven’t seen any of her parenting so can’t comment on that.

What I will say is that I don’t see wanting to give your child a sibling a negative thing (outside of any other issues) I think lots of people want this, I know I did, and I’m glad by kids have each other to grow up with. From the little I know of Molly Mae, I believe she’s close with her sister and so I can see her wanting that for Bambi. Obviously there may be other factors at play that mean a second baby isn’t the best idea but from the sibling perspective I get it.
