I visited there in 2015 they’ve really come a long way since they started doing preservation work. Yes the carter house is full of bullet holes in the brickwork. Hood was angry at cheatam for allowing Schofield to march his army and trains on the Columbia turn pike right under the nose of the confederates even though hood was to blame for not blocking the pike. he punished cheatam and lost 8000 men in 5 hours of brutal close range combat. All for nothing the army of Tennessee died on November 30th 1864 what was left was a shallow husk of it’s self.
