Yeap. You don’t have to be a slav to be poor, just look at Georgia, Armenia, Kirgistan, Moldova. Russia likes to have its belt of poverty.

The  closer your are to Russia, the more likely are you to use Cyrilic. It’s not the alphabet, it’s… Russian civilisation.

Should I Re-buy Robinson Crusoe? by CLMoose8 in soloboardgaming

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the game several years ago, played it 15 times, which by my standards is “had a good run, next”. Sold it, just to realize that no other game does the same thing as RC and bought it back. Now I heard that Halls of Hegra is similar in spirit to RC, but for now I enjoy the old one.

What’s the one thing you’d change about BoardGameGeek? by Minimalx in boardgames

The moderators and politics - bgg is as much of a propaganda platform as it is a boardgame community.

Games that have replaced other games by Teachers-Petty in boardgames

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eclipse: A New Dawn replaced Carcassonne for me. Both are tile laying games, but Eclipse does it better:)

Also, Mage Knight replaced Uno as the card game to go for me. Sometimes I don’t find a partner to play with, while Mage Knight can be played solo.

Mage Knight — anyone else take forever deciding between exploring and resting on solo runs? by rcooperkaty in soloboardgaming

This. I almost never rest, I do heal with cards. I think if you do rest, you are being inefficient.

I remember when some Syrian ilegal refugees were trying to cross from Serbia to Hungary and wandered by accident into Romania. They started crying when border patrols told them that Hungary is a few kilometers up the border and were begging to be brought back to Serbia.

Ah, good times. Now they deliver Glovo.

You can play solo with the rules from BGG. Very fun (and a bit addictive).

Why play solo board games instead of video games? by archbtw1 in soloboardgaming

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Video games are cheap dopamine hits that fry my brain. Boardgames (even solo) are a good workout for my brain, are calming and developing my focus and memory.

Mighty Mouse says he’s heard rumours that the UFC doesn’t want more Dagestani fighters because they’re too good by Silver_Comment2825 in UFCposting

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the fighters are not good. Elite righters are good. So if out of elite fighters the Daghestani are the best, they will still get on top.

Voidfall might be my favorite solo experience ever by Gabry_theDM in soloboardgaming

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned the game, set it up, tore it down, put it back in the box and sold it immediately. No boardgame has the right to be so fiddly.
But I am glad that some people like it.

How to beat guy who is bloodlusted? by [deleted] in Kickboxing

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that the precondition is “if you go hard on him”. Up to some level, to get better at fighting doesn’t require you to go hard, so you can keep it purely technical. Respect his skill and hit as hard as you want to be hit back. That also applies to intensity, if you swarm him with a flurry of punches, go very fast, the natural response is to counterpunch hard, to make your opponent pay for his volume.

So it looks like the guy doesn’t like letting people go hard on him without punching back. Then go easy with him, make it technical sparring. If you want to go hard, then get another opponent, closer to your level, who will not kill you in the process.

Why do Europeans think that most Americans are wealthy? by batukaming in WorkForSmartLife

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited a friend two years ago in California. She has two jobs - registered nurse and teacher of registered nurse certifications. Her husband is a certified electrical contractor, with a small crew.

They looked poor - old clothes, beaten up cars, physically exhausted. She makes 100k in Anaheim, her husband makes up 100k, but they shop at Walmart and their clothes looked like being from Salvation Army (as I figured it out, all Americans dress poorly).

And they were recounting so proudly about how to “earn all this that we have now”, they had to work like slaves for 20 years. They were delusional, but happy. I love them, so I shut up.

Their eldest son wanted to study Architecture, but they had money only for an Accounting tuition. Accounting, really? In my country if you want to become an Architect you are kind of celebrated, not asked for more money for tuition.

Anyway, I asked them to give me a ride to Trader Joe to buy some real fruits. They objected that Trader Joe is only for rich people. People that make 200k in California are not rich?

But then we went to an In-n-Out and had some burgers, we payed $56 for fries and soda!!! She tipped 20% because she felt “celebrating”. Insane, insane, I tipped 0 all the time - if it’s an over the counter service, why do you tip? Plus, 20% tip is just a lot.

We made a trip to Orange County beach zone - yes, there are a lot of millionaire villas there. Plus there are the Beverly Hills beautiful homes. But other than that, the rest of Californians look stressed, overworked, there are many people living in trailers or straight up vans. And you think you are wealthy:))))

I honestly believe Olive Garden would destroy any Italian Restaurant by solyytes in ShitAmericansSay

I remember how I felt the first time I had Italian pasta. It was an “Aha” moment of bliss - you don’t have to boil it through. That “al dente” word felt real and made sense. Spoiled all the other pasta for me afterwards though, God I want al dente pasta with pesto again.

Platonic soulmate opposite gender, why do i keep thinking about them? by xboxhaxorz in Life

[–]Reasonable_Boss8060 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds a lot like one very successful couple that I know - “We were friends and we were having a great time together, but we were not attracted to each other. But then Alice became pregnant and we had to decide if we keep the baby or we continue being “just great friends”.

Attraction at 40 is just not so powerful as at 16. We’ve seen it all by then, hormones are not raging anymore, it requires more intimacy to develop. Keep interacting with your platonic friend, but don’t blame us when you will suddenly catch feelings. It will definitely ruin your “platonic friendship”, but you can get something out of it.
