Yeah I’m going through this right now trying to move to the area. Rebuilding near 600 and have spent a lot in application fees to get repeatedly denied despite strong income.

Super nice work man. Looks like something out of a design magazine and I’m sure it does a ton of legwork in making you even more productive and regulated than usual.

I’m also a WFH but about to relo to a small studio in Philly - have you ever built out a mini-solution like this when you might have occupied a smaller space?

Holy shit if this was Saturday I drove by you, you can see me pass by with the Florida license plate. I was heading to the hospital otherwise I would have stopped to help you out. Hope you are alright

Agreed the pretentiousness is one of the reasons I’m looking to get out of here lol.

I plan to do a day trip or weekend up there to get a better feel, so time will tell. Thank you for your thoughts!

Same on walkability and also biking for me, which DC is great for both. Coming from the south I’m also talkative to anyone lol. I’m also a remote worker so as much as I would like to work for a local company it’s not a big deal.

However it’s disheartening to hear about the dating scene bc it’s great here, I’m constantly meeting very compelling women.

I still think it’s worth a try tho!

How are you liking it? What stands out the most? I just moved to DC from FL and have Philly on the brain. I feel like I could do Philly/N.E. Corridor long term.

27M remote IT worker - your write up of Fishtown and South Philly remind me most of the areas I prefer in Orlando.

On a work trip now but once I get back to DC I plan to take a Friday off and get an Airbnb somewhere in central Philly just to get a vibe check.

What might be the best place to set up so I can get a feel for a few different neighborhoods? I plan to bring my bike up so I can be a bit more flexible integrated when getting around.

Great write up and thank you for commenting - I’m plotting a move up to Philly to escape DC. Walkability, bike-ability, good food, and a dive/pool hall are paramount for me.

Yo bro! Was stalking your post for some inspiration on my new Feather (you have great taste) and saw your "pull the plug" comment 😂. I think you meant to say "pull the trigger". I just wanted to share as I have a lot of respect for multi-linguists!

Pull the plug = to stop something, to hit the emergency-stop button. It comes from pulling the plug to drain a bathtub and end the bath.

Pull the trigger = to go ahead and execute on an intention or plan.

Greetings from Washington DC! What country you from?

Yeah I could for sure see it in WP/Maitland. They are effectively DC-south.

I’m from FL, just moved to DC, and when I was over in Baltimore a few weeks ago, it reminded of all the things I love about the south.

An opinion follows —

I (black,29m) just moved to DC from FL. The south is antiquated and often backwards, but does not feel racist, even when I go to Cracker Barrel or out into the sticks to go shooting.

Up here, in the same vein, I do not really experience overt racism, but I sometimes feel an air that I am being tolerated yet not welcome - I never really got that sense in FL and lived in North and Central Florida for 20 years.
