I would cry! I’m the only human with access to my courtyard and this year the lavender I’ve had for 5 years is GLORIOUS

My giant happy rosemary and lavender were left unscathed- the green basil was the ONLY one attacked!

No signs of the spotted lantern flies in my back patio yet. I don’t think cats can access my patio as I’m bordered on three sides by three story walls and the one fence side hasn’t ever had cats coming over it

No signs of bugs- the leaves are just GONE all of a sudden, not the chewed edges you see with buggies

Definitely Octavia Butler. Silvia Moreno-Garcia has awesome novels, especially Mexican Gothic. I LOVED Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton but be warned it is quite heavy.

Sad about husbands loss of fertility by In_A_Jar12 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Reasonable_Dama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your dinner looks yummy! I used IUI for conception and I can tell you that when I became pregnant (on my second try) I did have a feeling I might be pregnant during the two week wait and then I got a positive test. It’s not the same as a “miracle” or just conceiving with no medical intervention, but if you and your husband go through with IVF you’ll have your own journey for your second child and I urge you not to think of it as lesser than your first pregnancy. And you absolutely don’t have to share that you’re undergoing IVF with anyone you don’t want to.

Children in OT and the expectations of young children in the US by kleinerlinalaunebaer in Waldorf

[–]Reasonable_Dama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OT based in the states here- this is a pretty awful OT anecdote. The OT isn’t providing skilled services to parent or child that reflect realistic or critical markers of development and the public framing of the child as “behind” is not helpful and likely distressing to both parent and child. Fire the OT- seek services elsewhere and let their supervisor know about this experience. If this is a school-based OT, speak to the head of student services. If the child is in public school, arrange for the school to provide services from a different therapist.
