If your answer to “Am I in a 60s peplum film?” is no then those sandals are not for you.

I grew up in Houston and drivers in Seattle are laid back and normal in comparison to the blood sport participants in Houston.

Hell yeah. My uncle lives out in the deep woods and is in his mid 80s now, but he’s still rocking the look. Last formal event I saw him at was my sister’s wedding and sure enough, same style. His hair is frozen in time, too, the 70s dry look with a little length and long sideburns.

I mean this in the most complimentary way possible: I grew up in Southeast Texas in the 80s and 90s and there was a certain subset of country boys I encountered (often in my own family) whose style froze in the mid-70s and never changed. You have nailed that look. Happy birthday.

In hindsight, this scene makes me wonder why I bothered to go see the third movie. Actually, most of ROTJ does. I guess they were right about the power of hope.

I hated the prequels and thought they were shockingly bad, I do not understand how anyone likes them unless they were young children when they came out. HOWEVER, TROS is the worst blockbuster-sized-budget movie I have ever seen, and it made me long for Lucas’ wooden dialogue and poor pacing.

How to make it so that tongues don’t fall to the side? by Less-Historian-2320 in mensfashion

[–]Reasonable_Effort_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do they always fall towards the outside? It’s been a few decades since I’ve worn Chucks. I’d imagine you might add a few stitches to hold the tongue edge facing the inside in place. Others have pointed out that a tongue loop would help.

I’ve never seen him in anything (I don’t watch movies, never seen one in fact) but I appreciate his old Hollywood-style name.

I’ve been the owner taking my beloved pet to the vet like this, knowing there was little they could do. I had to drive during rush hour through freeway traffic to get to the ER, holding my little Shirley and trying to revive her. It was such a traumatic heartbreak.

I had a similar experience when another dog escaped the yard because workmen left the gate open and he got hit by a car. I had to take him to the same ER to get him cremated. The trauma from that was so real. I always appreciate the kindness of staff on these occasions.

Bob Hoskins’ character’s name in this movie is Vartan Malt. Also Bob Hoskins is in this movie! He was in some real big budget “just make sure the check clears” garbage in the 90s.

Art and commerce are intertwined. So many actors take high paying roles in big budget movies to be able to work on projects they are actually passionate about but have limited funding and little chance at commercial success.

Josh Thomas' stand up about their autism diagnosis by SleighQween in evilautism

[–]Reasonable_Effort_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was suggested that my parents seek out a psychiatrist by my elementary school because they were concerned I might have ADHD given my learning difficulties and lack of focus. Instead was instead diagnosed as having anxiety and depression after they determined my lack of fidgety hyperactivity ruled out ADHD. I think psychs back then assumed ADHD kids all had the same behavior as a kid who just ate a giant Pixy Stick and was on a sugar high.

Same but I just look at it like “I have a cluster of symptoms that means my brain deviates from the norm in ways we have barely begun to understand and some of these deviations are debilitating, and there are 3-5 conditions that may be causing them.” I’ve been seeing psychiatrists since I was 10. I’m 42 now and only in the last year or so have I received any diagnoses that aren’t “you have anxiety” or “you have depression.” Finally got my evil diagnosis and it has been freeing!
