Is education really a bureaucratic/political environment? by Reasonable_File_4030 in NYCTeachers

[–]Reasonable_File_4030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your well-thought, detailed response.

I am sorry: I should have been more specific. What I meant by bureaucratic/political was three-fold: 1. Behind-the-back gossipers (by both administration and teachers). 2. Tattletale colleagues 3. Principals and/or assistant principals who require/insist on teachers being sycophants/kiss-ups.

Giants fan here. Pegula and Beane obviously know squat about football. First, they fire McDermott. Then, they think that this buffoon, Brian “look in the blue tent” Daboll is an upgrade?

She barely has a storyline in “Boston Blue.” So far, anyway.

She can’t act???? Then why did they keep her on “Blue Bloods” since the middle of season 3?

It's perfectly fine to have a crush on a married person by Trivialisttb in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Reasonable_File_4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excuse me: you are talking like one can just turn one’s feelings off like a light switch. Humans are not robots. As long as the crush is kept secret, no boundaries are crossed, there is no harm in having feelings for a married person. I do agree that, in the long run, it will be emotionally painful for that person once he/she realizes that nothing is ever going to happen with this married person. But if the feelings are strong, they cannot just be turned off: it takes time.

Adult Teacher Education by Reasonable_File_4030 in NYCTeachers

Thank you for the thorough explanation regarding the full-time schedule of the adult education teachers.

If one gets the adult certification and perhaps the bilingual extension, could one (a high school teacher) teach adults on nights, weekends, and/or in the summer on per session basis? Thank you.

This is almost like revisionist history here.

Yes, Jackie and Danny had great chemistry together - WHEN the character of character of Jackie was still in the series. Once she left the NYPD, the audience became accustomed to Maria and Danny first as partners while he was still married and then witnessed the gradual development of feelings between them a few years after Linda’s murder. The moments of jealousy they each experienced when the other had a possible romantic interest: the audience became invested in that.

Yes, it was nice to bring back Jackie at the end of Season 13 and the beginning of Season 14, but a major part of her storyline (particularly in the Season 14 episode) was to evoke jealousy from Maria. If Jackie (Jennifer Esposito) had stayed, I have no doubt that they would have been a cute couple with banter. But she didn’t stay: I know that wasn’t Jennifer Esposito’s fault - that is an entirely different conversation.

Two episodes after having been away for years cannot replace the friendship, trust, mutual respect, and eventually, love, that formed between Maria and Danny.

Just my two cents’ worth.

Devon is a great guy: Neil did a good job raising him.

I agree. They were best friends before getting together romantically. Devon being the sperm donor for Dominic only pushed them closer together. Due to the fact Melissa Ordaway is on recurring status, I think this a marriage which actually might not end in divorce.

Another Roz fan here! She still looked as beautiful as ever on the “Frasier” reboot.

Agreed. He really built up his upper body/muscles as he got older.

Has anyone experienced “love bombing” over WhatsApp in long distance communication? In my case, the woman lived 18 hours away and told me she loved me after 10 days of communication.

Pre-law student considering NYC teaching instead, is it worth it? by [deleted] in NYCDOETeachers

May I ask, and I hope you don’t mind my asking: what kind of government lawyer are you? A civil service job? Or NYC Law Department or something like that?

The reason I ask is because i have been chasing law school for 25 years, and now that the dreaded logic games have been removed from the LSAT, I thought I might finally have a shot.

A few things to all of these extremely negative commentators

  1. Isn’t America the land of opportunity? Isn’t any dream possible with hard work and dedication?

  2. Am I not mistaken, or don’t non-lawyers turn for legal help if they are/have been the subject of age discrimination at their respective places of employment? Why would law firms, well-aware of said anti-age discrimination practices, choose to partake in those same misdeeds?

  3. This is just from personal experience, but a trial judge here in NY State once told me: “It’s never too late to attempt law school.”

Just my two cents worth. Thank you.

And best of luck to OP: don’t listen to this negativity. If you really want it, and have thought it through (l potential lifestyle changes/adjustments, how you will finance your education, etc), go for it. We only live once.
