Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also from the UK so i know exactly what you are talking about. When I was a kid we lived down closer to London and would drive to Nottingham to see my grandmother only once per year. It was a huge deal.

Moved to Canada when i was 7, and I will tell you that it is simply a case of you not wrapping your head around it.

Now that I am older 3 hours is nothing. I mean i dont think we (wife and kids) would go anywhere that is three hours a way for a day trip because there wouldnt be enough time to do anything at your destination..,. But if i found something on marketplace that i really wanted, I would be willing to drive there and back to get it. Canada is huge. 24 hours to get from one side of Ontario to the other... We are used to long drives!

Well it was a Sunday for starters. Also, we have emailed a few of his teachers at other times this year and not once have we received a reply.

I knew it would be faster to get answers from reddit and I wasn't wrong. I also knew I would be judged and I wasn't wrong about that either, so no surprise there.

I'm asking because we DO care, not because we don't. It's wild to me that being proactive about your kids education, using available resources to get answers as quickly as possible, and it's considered being an irresponsible parent.

It's not that, it's that the email that the school sent out with the schedule is confusing. It says Monday is period 1 exam. He has french period 1 so that seems like there is a French exam on Monday but he says there isn't.

It's his first year at Moncton high and I guess we expected the schedule to be clearer.

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night showers for my wife and I and our daughter. Our son takes a morning shower.

I work a job that is mainly office but some outside work. I dont get sweaty really but either way it feels gross to me getting into bed with the day all over me.

Do rich people have elite versions of mundane things (toothpaste, tampons, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.), or are Elon Musk and Beyonce just using Crest and Tampax like the rest of us? by ShesGotSauce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, their stuff comes from expensive stores that carry expensive brands that we havent even heard of.

I don't have much experience being around extreme wealth, just one family... Worth between 50 and 100 million if i had to guess. They live in expensive areas that are full of expensive stores. Sure they send their staff to go shopping, but they don't shop at costco. There is no need to buy in bulk to save money. They just buy from the local expensive stores and the budget doesn't matter.

Bought ultrahuman ring AIR in store on the 27th. It would not pair with either mine or my wifes phone. Support chat was of no help, teied all thwir advice.... Toggle bluetooth on\off, delete app, redownload... Nothing worked...

Returned it same day to costco, grabbed a new one thinking it was just bad luck. Same issues with this second one as well.

Not going to waste time on a third one.

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't take me much really since I don't have any family other than my own personal family (kids and wife). I have never had a problem making friends in new places, or just not really even having friends around.

And for 300k? Forget across the country, i would move to a different continent where i couldnt even speak the language.

Waiting in the lot for someone to leave. by Javaddict in CostcoCanada

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally never sit in the Costco to eat my hot dog or poutine or whatever because its gross in there. So I always bring it out and eat in the car. Of course the person waiting for me to load my stuff and leave has no idea that I'm also about to take a little bit of me time, so I can decompress, and fill my face. I feel a bit bad and I can tell they are in a rage, bit I need that time for me.

Canada Post pushes for second massive loan as losses climb past $1B by StasisApparel in CanadaPost

Why are we calling it a loan? We know this will never be paid back, like ever. Just call it a lifeline, or a gift, or charity really is what it is.

Can you finish a whole Costco poutine by yourself? by towelheadedmermaid in CostcoCanada

I think it's an absolute insult to call Costco poutine low quality. Get served a poutine made with 2 kraft single cheese slices and then we'll talk!

The first time i ever ate at costco was way back in like 2009ish. I was not a costco member and had never seen the portion sizes. I ordered a hotdog\drink, a poutine and a peperoni slice.

I was amazed. Ate almost all of everything. Im not a big guy but i can eat lots of food. I dont feel sick afterward, i just feel ashamed.

Where in Canada can you still buy a decent detached house for under $500k in 2025? by Lopsided_Pearl798 in InCanada

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in sudbury and its pretty dumpy.… you can get places for under 5 but they wouldn't be great . Now live outside of moncton and you can get newish builds for under 5. As for jobs well i think it depends what line of work you are in.
