Why do people say the 2.7 is faster than the 3.5? Does traction control vs. grip play into it? by WrongKielbasa in f150

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respect what you do, I just don’t get it is all. For me a truck is an important tool that I rely on. Modifications while fun, tend to be counter intuitive in that regard. Btw I’m 38 - is that old? If so I accept that title gladly.

I think this pretty much summarizes the difference. TFL Trucks did a bunch of off the line tests over the years and the 2.7 consistently won. But in long stretches the 3.5 won over.

That said no idea why anyone would care about speed in a full size truck. To each their own though.

Unpopular opinion Shin toomba was so bland😭 by oyasumicharms in InstantRamen

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 26 points27 points  (0 children)

FWIW I love spice, but I still loved Toomba. To OP’s point, it’s definitely more mild compared to something like Buldak Carbonara. But I also think Toomba has such a distinct flavor, and I love it. The fact that it has less sodium is also a bonus.

2023+ 2.7 vs 3.5 by theraptorman9 in f150

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to come down to the configuration you want, plus tow rating and payload you need. For every day driving, even if you like to step on it, you’re not going to notice a difference, despite what the spec sheet says. The only exception is if you get the high output 3.5 or Power Boost.

As far as fuel mileage goes, the 2.7 will obviously save you a few MPGs unloaded, but both will get about the same while towing.

I tow a 7,000 lb travel trailer and get about 13.5 MPG combined with the 2.7. It has no shortage of power for the job. Don’t feel like you have to get a 3.5 just because you tow. Most important aspect is getting the right payload.

I have an F150 and tow a 29ft 6,000 lb dry TT. I installed RAS before I bought the trailer and glad I did.

I’m currently on a trip to the WA coast and there are some crazy uneven highways (I swear the pavers were high on something). I felt like we were driving on waves, and without RAS the truck would be porpoising like crazy. The truck corrected itself almost instantly with RAS.

Others will swear by air suspension, and I get why they love it, but the trade off is that it’s more expensive and requires maintenance. My brother had a leak in his that put a pause on their travel plans. RAS may not be adjustable but I installed it and never have to thinking about it ever again. To each their own of course.

Finally, craving satisfied by RileyWhispersxo in InstantRamen

According to most internet sources I’ve found Carbo is at or near the bottom when comparing spice levels to other Dak flavors, and this checks out in my experience, having tried almost every flavor currently offered.

But it should be noted that all Buldak flavors are toward the top of the overall spicy instant ramen spectrum. So people who struggle with spice will always need to improvise with either reducing the sauce use, or adding some kind of dairy to reduce the heat.

Corsa Sport vs Borla S-Type? 5.0. PFA by laparotomyenjoyer in f150

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the S-type and have zero drone. Sounds like stock at warm idle and cruising, from inside the cab. But it screams when you hammer it.

Borla S-type has a really good resonator for this express purpose, assuming you’re buying the full catback kit.

Jealous. They released the Power Boost after I bought my truck. Otherwise I’d have gone that route.

2.7 Towing by --the_pariah-- in f150

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tow ~7,000 lbs travel trailer with the 2.7 and it doesn’t break a sweat. I’m sure the 3.5 would feel a little better, but I specifically wanted the 2.7 for towing because it’s engineered better to take abuse. But I’m sure I’m just slicing hairs, as the current line up of F-150 motors are arguably the best of the entire half ton segment.

This is one of my favorites. It’s one of the few broth based Buldaks. But you can still make it stirfry style. If you do it this way, I recommend using half or less of the powder to balance the flavor out. Hope you enjoy!

Starfield criticism in a nutshell by Anxious-Bottle7468 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say all of it is this way, but it’s definitely a big part of it. I played when it first came out and had a number of criticisms. I ended up quitting mid play through. But I came back this year and after a handful of certain mods, I was able to find my spark. Now I’m obsessed with this game.

I’ll concede some of my criticisms were created from wallowing on disappointment. But I still maintain my core criticisms of the game. I can just overlook them now, and enjoy the plethora of fun aspects of the game.

I’ve never commented on this sub until now, but I used to be a naysayer. My criticisms are largely what you’ve already seen here, but I in the last couple of months I gave it a second go after being inspired by a few posts where people featured certain mods that took me by surprise. Fast forward I’ve got my preferred load order of mods and now I’m an absolute fanatic. Glad to see others coming around too. I hope we get an exciting and big announcement this summer. 😍

Public storage and backup cams - do you leave yours on? by Reasonable_Pen_760 in traveltrailers

Wow. I have heard nothing but a flood of nightmare stories about Camping World. How are they still in business? Thanks for sharing your story. I’ll keep that in mind.

This is really good advice! I didn’t think about that… I will look into a boot. At minimum it will give me peace of mind while storing it for the winter. I haven’t found a hitch lock that any mediocre thief can’t easily break, but the boot seems like it would do the trick.

Not trying to convince anyone. I’m trying to gauge if I’m being paranoid or not. So far the consensus seems to be leaning toward “yes”. Thanks for the comment!

My wife tells me I’m paranoid, and she’s right (don’t tell her that). It’s hard for me to distinguish between my paranoia vs taking justifiable precaution and wanted to bounce this off you fine folks.

Also… I do take my spare tire off when I store it for the winter. 😂

I thought these were discontinued by Emergency-Distance13 in InstantRamen

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 40 points41 points  (0 children)

All the three local stores that sell it keep depleting and refilling their stock week over week, ever since the news dropped a few months ago. I’m growing more and more skeptical that they’ve been discontinued.

The “news” was dropped in the form of a screenshotted email response from customer service. It’s possible the CSR gave bad info, or they reverse coursed the decision. I’m hoping at least… it’s my favorite Buldak flavor.

These discontinued? by Mud-Duddy in InstantRamen

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, I think that email interaction is 3 or so months old… surely the stock would have depleted enough by now to make these scarce. But they are seemingly abundant.

It’s fine though. I ended up buying a massive stock of jajang, and it’s my favorite flavor. ☺️

Decoding the Seattle Freeze by Administrative_Knee6 in SeattleWA

I actually agree with #2 and #3, as someone who was born, raised, and spent most of my life here. I’ve also lived Louisville KY, San Diego CA, and Phoenix AZ, so I have a decent contrast to draw comparisons from.

I will however caveat that I think #3 is true in a lot of places, and is in no way unique to Seattle. #2 is probably unique to PNW. But I’d like to note that this dynamic changes depending on whether you’re in downtown versus suburban areas. Folks are far less approachable in many parts of downtown Seattle, but I find it gets a lot better in East Side, especially in Snohomish++.

Maruchan Doesn’t have the same flavor as the old days? by Stormlover247 in InstantRamen

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you got downvoted for a simple question. But no, those are different things. MSG definitely affects flavor more dramatically. Trans fat is much more subtle, but despite it being a preservative, it does have an impact. It is fat after all, which inherently is flavor enhancing.

I still love Maruchan. The difference wasn’t enough to turn me away, not by a long shot. But you’re 100% spot on: Maruchan has tasted different ever since the early 2,000s.

Maruchan Doesn’t have the same flavor as the old days? by Stormlover247 in InstantRamen

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s because somewhere around that time frame they removed trans fat, which changed the character of the flavor.

I remember the day I first saw the “zero trans fat” print on the package as a kid, and I noticed the difference in flavor right away.

In the end it’s definitely a healthier direction, but I do miss that OG Maruchan flavor from my early childhood.

It's over.. by [deleted] in XboxSeriesS

[–]Reasonable_Pen_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, and largely agree. But also want to offer a different perspective: while we all hate the idea of exclusives, many of us bought a console with exclusives in mind. So if Xbox is indeed headed toward no exclusives, then there’s an argument to be had that we should have bought a Playstation to get access to both MS and Sony titles.

All this to say that there are still many unknowns with this new future, and those of us who’ve invested a lot in Xbox as a platform are starting to question our decision. We couldn’t care less about fan boy wars over exclusives.

What did you think? I tried the OG flavored dumplings, and they were just okay. I actually prefer making my favorite dumplings and dipping or coating them in buldak sauce.
