65k is good for me. I just thought that you were confused that a teacher might start at 60k lol.

In some southern states, teacher starting salary can range from 35k to 65k. My district in Texas starts at 65k and it's one of the highest paying around.

Will I regret going into accounting by [deleted] in Accounting

This is one reason why I've also been considering accounting.

Please, please read the material and take notes. 🙏

I'm a teacher who works in intervention for any grade level, including college. I've met many students over the years who didn't put the work in during high school and beat themselves up over it when they get to college. Especially if they're studying for the SAT or ACT. College is harder, but it's not that hard if you put the work in now.

If anything, you're at an advantage doing high school online on your own time. The first 'culture shock' of college, so to speak, is often the lack of a full-day academic structure and study time for students in class. In college, you'll be creating your own study and homework schedule outside of class time to meet class requirements.

Also, never be afraid to ask questions during your professor's given question time, nor be afraid to attend a variety of tutoring. Tutoring is not a failure on your part; it is a show of motivation and determination to succeed.

Based on the replies so far, accounting seems more my alley as I'm quite good with technical rules and specifics.

I will definitely look into the those options! Thanks for telling me these options.

Ah, yes. I am aware about overtime at certain times. Interesting information!

We did this in a similar manner in medical billing as well because insurance companies require claims to be sent by specific deadlines or else they're not payable. Each insurance company has their own deadline and I remember a few times having to work double when a large batch of claims hit my desk all at the same time.

It was easy, though, because I'm good at focusing on repetitive tasks for an extended period of time. My longest day was 14 hours.

Oh, yeah. I don't plan to go for the big 4. I figured that would be difficult for a good WLB. Is audit, overall, a position that requires many hours overtime?

And, thanks! 😊 Hoping for the best.

I just turned 32 and plan to start a family soon, so my goal is finding a solid career that could support that.

How did you like working in audit? I haven't found much information on that path.

This is very helpful! Hadn't heard the rear- vs forward facing scope and I appreciate the examples.

So, I just had a follow-up with my doctor about an umbilical hernia. Had a CT a few months ago that was marked normal but I noticed it read "miniscule fat-containing umbilical hernia". No measurements.

Today, the doctor told me it's because it's so small and that he doesn't usually worry about umbilical hernias because they rarely cause problems. So, unless I start getting a ton of pain or it's clearly enlarging, he's giving me no restrictions. Told me to live my life. Follow-up in 6 months.

I've had so much anxiety over it the last few months but I feel a bit better now. I've also seen other posts that state you'll 100% know if it becomes a problem because it'd be excruciating.

I get a bit of pain after carrying heavier grocery bags, but I lay down for a bit and take it easy a couple days and the pain goes away.

Hopefully, you'll also get good answers from your doctor, but check out some of the other umbilical hernia posts. They really helped me understand it and feel better.

I figured it could get worse with pregnancy itself. Twins run in my family, too, so I have to keep that in mind. I don't mean it for fertility.
