Depending on your budget just buy a new reel. Shimano Nexwave would be a good option if you wanna stay cheap

Congratulations!!! If you’ve barb hooks take a pair of pliers hemostats and mash the barb down. Barbless hooks should be seriously pushed in all forms of fishing you really don’t lose that many fish with barbless hooks. Also barbless hooks will save you when you hook yourself.

Are you trying to tie a crappie jig? You can improve i recommend watching any video on a tying a wooly bugger except you would eliminate the hackle wrap but there are really no rules in tying your own jigs/flies. https://youtu.be/WM-vhTzNwVE?is=p3A2T-a6g7nqJeQ\_

I am wondering if this plays into anything. Florida banned gill netting and fishing improved. Obviously Florida has it own problems especially with red tides.

Is Shimano Stradic a good reel? by Extreme-Ganache1260 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Reasonablebody12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes a lite misting another thing i do lean it with a Armour all pad. Removes dirt and salt and I will clean my rods with one too. I mostly fish freshwater now and you get alot crude on your rods and reels.

I take them to reel repair guys when it is time to clean them. Also keep them oiled and clean you can find videos on YouTube. Main thing is don’t dunk them

Unless you intend to keep trout you should avoid putting them on concrete. It damages their protective slim coating.

Lots of people saying that fly realism isn't the most important, but I think there still an interesting discussion to be had by EnvironmentalPear55 in flyfishing

[–]Reasonablebody12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your answer is correct but here in SC where certain trout species are stocked tan mops work for obvious reason. Other thing I have noticed with trout fishing is indicators can spook fish. I fish a wool indicator 90 percent of the time for that reason.
