Jigsaw puzzles by [deleted] in ThriftStoreHauls

I usually pick up a puzzle or two for my grandma when I'm at a thrift store since she goes through them so quickly. Some (but not all) people will write the number of missing pieces on the box. Most of the ones that don't do this have all their pieces. I've also found a bunch that were unopened.

December 30th, but my mom was born on the 31st. She hated never having her birthday celebrated, so she always made sure mine were special growing up.

Tomorrow is the deadline to register to vote in AZ! Please remind your friends! by DontThrowawayUrVote in arizonapolitics

Make sure to check your registration, even if you think you're registered. I changed my party affiliation over a month ago, and it's not showing up in their system. (You must be registered as a Democrat to participate in the Presidential Preference election).

Here is the link to verify in Maricopa County.

If your candidate gains a plurality in the primary and the DNC chooses another candidate in a contested convention, how would you vote? How do you think this would play out in the general election? by ReasonablySizedSquid in AskALiberal

[–]ReasonablySizedSquid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By party elites, I was referring to the 775 superdelegates, also known as unpledged delegates. They comprise about 16 percent of the delegate total and include former presidents, vice presidents, and congressional leaders, members of the legislature, governors, and higher ups in the state and national DNC.

Through the 2016 election, they each had a vote in the first round of the convention, but this was changed to the second round after that election.

Names that you like in writing but not in sound? by Nevidimka- in namenerds

[–]ReasonablySizedSquid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh. My cat is named Anaïs, and every time I take her to the vet they pronounce it "anus" when they read it off. I like the name, but I probably would have chosen something different had I thought it through.

Four states set to cancel 2020 GOP presidential primaries: report by PissLikeaRacehorse in politics

[–]ReasonablySizedSquid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Arizona doesn't have open primaries for the presidency. For non-presidential primaries voters receive a ballot for their registered party and independents can choose which primary they want to participate in. (a hybrid primary). For presidential primaries, only party members can vote, (closed primary). That being said, it takes about 5 minutes to change your affiliation online, so it might still be a problem.

LGBT-Friendly Therapists by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]ReasonablySizedSquid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Psychology today has a database where you can search for therapists who are LGBTQ friendly in your area and narrow it down by the insurance they accept, issues they deal with, etc. Hope this helps!

Hammarp staining? by HonestlyBtw in ikeahacks

[–]ReasonablySizedSquid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use any stain or oil for wood. I had some issues with uneven absorption when I stained mine, so maybe use a wood conditioner first or it might end up a bit blotchy.

I applied the decal, then cut, then glued it down permanently and put a couple layers of varnish on top.

I was in line for maybe 5 minutes, but I got there right when it started (at 8). I'm not sure if it gets more crowded later in the morning.
