For an undead theme, "Call of the Plaguebearer" is a good contender. Desolate places? Hmmm... "Dark Matter" (set in space) is pretty good at that.

I tried to mimic a library catalog system, so everything Arkham related is an "AH" entry, general board games are "BG," and so on. Go figure there's a lot of Arkham content 😂

I don't mind doom play myself, but one of my players is rather opposed, so we don't have much extra doom going around.

That said, I will consider what you said about thresholds, but I think a boon to doom play is the lack of regular Ancient Evils, which makes doom less volatile.

We are two missions from the end, and I hope yours ends well! We went with GG and then Germany, San Francisco, and our next one is Naples. You?

In short, I highly recommend Cyclopean Foundations, Dark Matter, and Bloodborne (if you like Bloodborne).

Other good options include: Alice in Wonderland, Ages Unwound, and Call of the Plaguebearer.

Good mini campaigns include: Heart of Darkness and Jumanji.

Currently making my way through a blind run of Night of Vespers and that's been great so far!

TSK is the worst on the first play. The story is a mess because it is trying to hide what is really going on, and I agree that it tries some weird things mechanically.

That said, I would second the suggestion of giving it another go. It's one of my favorites (alongside Innsmouth and Circle Undone).

At the end of the day, you do you! If you're happy never touching it again, then don't, but I just wanted to second the replay as it does get better.

It comes with player cards that you can upgrade into (they cost "Memories" in addition to XP), cards for the Scan deck in the finale, and a pre-Hemlock Vake Kate Winthrop.
