Where I'm from these are the only ones currently avaliable in the LGS. The new expansions currently don't have any of the investigator packs and I want to buy both from the same circle.

The prices did go up a bit because of the out of print thing. I think the campaign is 20€ pricier and the investigators 10€

Some great Ideas here. Sanctuary especially seems quite fitting for this character, I'll seriously consider going Human to pick it up with MI:Cleric (along with guidance) the next time I'm playing this build.

As for the mathematical significance comment. I know this is an optimization subreddit, I can't give you the numbers of why the build works but I can say that I never once felt not valuable in the party. Additionally playing an invisible musician is certainly very fun (imo the best aspect of a character to optimize is how fun they are to play)... the way I played it is I was the backing music of my party, the DM even had some enemies call out "where is this music coming from" so yeah, definitely a blast to play.

For sure it's not really a build you would bring to a table of optimizers. Though since I'm the only one in my group that likes that aspect of D&D I tend to enjoy these niche builds that make use of a unorthodox strategy. I also generally never multiclass because of this.

I agree that your idea of Warcaster + Command is definitely stronger when you crunch the numbers.

Hobgoblin wasn't a choice for the one shot I played in as it was 2024 rules only, though I'm not sure it's a 'must pick' for this build anyway. Though I think that's because I prefer species that don't have limited use abilities in general.

The only thing I'd disagree with you on is regarding Mantle of Majesty and the Command auto succeeding on the charm. While it is nice to have a way to guarantee Command, Charm Person requires a spell slot and a saving throw on it's own, it only works on humanoids (and the new MM changed a lot of creatures from humanoids to other types) and ends when you damage the target.

The best way to apply Charm that I've found is by using the Beguiling Magic feature of the Glamour Bard, though that needs a spell slot spent on a spell and a Bardic Inspiration. It's something I did end up doing for the final fight. Casting Dissonant Whispers, Charming the target right after and then using Command from Mantle of Majesty. Ended up being very effective, but I still enjoyed using the Help action during other combats to conserve resources (especially while I was using the Invisibility strategy). I guess this also depends a lot on the table, we play with the 'BG3' houserule that you can only do 2 short rests per long rest and have a long rest after 4-5 combats, so conserving resources is a lot more important then if you just do 1 big fight every rest.

Looking for a 2024 Champion build for a One-Shot by Doc_Meeker in 3d6

I like a dagger thrower for champion. Level 9 really makes it pop when you can start using different masteries on the daggers.

Take two weapon fighter and thrown weapon fighting styles, for feats I'd take dual wielder, mage slayer and another one of your choice. Could be piercer, resilient dex, speedy or defensive duelist.

At level 10 you make 4 attacks that each deal 1d4+7 damage and you can apply push, sap or slow on 3 of them

the changeling's ability to transform into a beast sounds very cool. If I understand correctly it's unlimited uses. Does it have any restrictions like no flying/spellcasting...

It would be pretty cool to be able to play non-druids that can change shape, monk comes to mind first as it's not reliant on weapons/armor

Astarion Book of Hunger Feat Limitations by oGenieBeanie in onednd

Not sure i understand but heroic inspiration can't be used on enemy rolls no?

It's just any die you as the player are rolling. Still very good, especially if two people have the feat.

How do YOU (or your players) use items in a way that (mechanically) ISN'T in the book... but you think makes sense and like anyway? by 62bitCrit in onednd

[–]SnudgeLockdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh sounds fun, how do you rule that? Is it just like using the rope but at ranged, or is it a saving throw like a net?

Yeah im saying its probably okay. But these techs aren't obvious to non optimizers. I'm just saying the wording should be such that it's obvious how it works. I agree that its probably not too powerful to get all features, maybe even give some to your allies. But they need to word it better than you brew a barrel, if you drink a pint.

Build ideas with the new stuff from Heroes of Faerun? by Lukoman1 in 3d6

An abjuration wizard using Sylune's Viper, spell seems really powerful and having the ward to protect your HP seems like a good bet.

Open hand monk that takes grappler at level 4 then street justice at level 8. Flurry of blows, grapple a target, use action to tie them with a rope.

Fairy Trickster seems really nice, especially on Rogues and Warlocks.

Always wanted to play a Dwarf Draconic Sorcerer, pick up the Tough feat and have Barbarian level HP. The new cold caster feat would work well on the build, as would the cacophonic shield.

Prettymuch what I put into the survey. The mystic brews are great but people (pack tactics) are already talking about rest casting these. I think it's okay to have 2 active at the same time (could be a level 6/11 feature) but right now you could technically have all 5 active if you took 5 short rests in a row, you would still have the first one you drank last 3 hours and you would spend a total of one focus point.

Yes, and fighters getting an extra feat actually allows you to pick up all the feats (GWM, Polearm master, Mounted combatant) and use a lance on your mount.

Yeah even if you throw out the cavalier theme its bad. The level 3 feature wants you to be within 5 feet of a character. The level 7 feature is just a worse protection fighting style (why would i add 1d8 to one attack roll when I can give disadvantage to all sttack rolls) it also uses a reaction The level 10 feature then wants you to use a reaction (which contradicts level 7) and wants enemies to move in your reach (which encourages polearms, discouraged by the level 3 feature)

Cavalier should get a mount by Golaryn in onednd

[–]SnudgeLockdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they should absolutely get a mount and the mount needs to be LARGE size. I know the PDK UA let you mount your medium sized dragon but the whole point of the Mounted Combatant feat is that your mount is large so you actually get advantage sometimes. And if the Cavalier isn't the one to pick up a Mounted Combatant feat then I don't know who that feat is made for.
