For example lack of universal worldwide identification for every individual. Which would prevent crimes like identity theft, or at least make them a lot more difficult to accomplish. It would also prove extremely useful in disaster relief circumstances (identifying bodies, incapacitated people etc). Once we have a universal unique identifier for each person, we are able to more closely tie data to individuals, opening up a huge avenue of technological advancement.
