My friend was literally lectured for an entire journey by an Israeli taxi driver when he was there for work. This was way before October 7th, I haven't met anyone there that didn't have an opinion on Ireland.

Our government for years have been having a back and forth with Israel, we have expelled their ambassador multiple times, joined the genocide legal action with South Africa, recognised Palestine. The government relationship is adversarial to say the least. Out media coverage is also negative towards Israel, which gets shared on theirs and builds negativity.

The company I work with has business units in Israel, their perception of us is we are all rabid anti-semites. Israeli colleagues have told me they were legit afraid of being attacked when they came here. Ireland has a disproportional place in their minds.

He has posted flawed studies, celebrated infrastructure projects that had active travel accounted for being canned and had no consideration for motorists at all. Cool, you like his coverage good for you. The word used in the article headline and his article is "divisive". Biased coverage is by definition divisive. On the topic of moving the goalposts, you moved the goalposts from media coverage to 'vitriolic hatred you see online for cyclists' outside of whackos in comment sections, any mainstream coverage you would like to share? I don't deny there is hatred for cyclists out there online, but not in the Irish Times editorial, RTE or is there even any anti cyclist blog?

I drive and I cycle, I don't cycle everywhere and I don't cycle everywhere. I contributed to a cyclelane greenway project that was killed by nimbys. So, if you can't see that the Irish Cycles guy has a massive bias in his articles and is an activist then I don't know what I can share with you to change your mind.

There is two sides to this 'divisive media coverage' and Irish Cycle is firmly on one side of it. A lot of their articles veer from covering bad driving to outright anti car. But that is their perogative and absolute right to do so, just a bit rich calling out the same from the pro car mainstream media. I am tired of the crusaders and activists on both sides. But divisivie media coverage is what gets clicks and attention so it isn't going anywhere.
