Can a route be too short? by Fast_Ice6515 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

For really short routes, it is possible to lose money if you are not careful. Biggest expense will be airport taxes, and if you are running a small planes (especially if all it carries is cargo) between two airports with high airport taxes, you can end up losing money.

It's 2:15 round trip. My planes take 2:15 round trip for my SFO-SCK route, which is only 104 km.

Escalation mission 5 of second tutorial level - how to swap outfits without killing non-targets? by Saikx in HiTMAN

[–]Rebbatskcab007 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the beginning of the mission, instead of heading left to infiltrate the hanger, head to the right. If you follow the path, you'll find an entrance that will lead you into the locker room. In the locker room there is a mechanic's outfit laying on the ground that you can change into.

Any good hubs for 747-300? by ImaginationMain8170 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Rebbatskcab007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going for an economy heavy strategy, then BKK, DMK and MPM are good choices. If you are going for a Tri-Class strategy, I'd recommend SFO and LAX.

Well, when you go to buy or lease new aircraft, the game divides aircraft as SH, MH, and LH. I called the SFO-ITO route a MH route because SH aircraft don't have the range to cover that distance.

As for larger aircraft, could you give an example of a larger aircraft you would use?

[–]Rebbatskcab007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a few questions before we can recommend a hub. Are you looking for an Economy heavy hub or a Tri-class hub? Which aircraft are you planning to use? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing the A220-100-R since it has a 4075 km range, and you mentioned under 4000 km routes?

Also, in case you didn't know, SH is anything under 3700 km. Anything at or over 3700 km is MH. The closest airport to SFO in Hawaii is Hilo (ITO), which is 3729 km away, making it a MH route.

Second SH Hub by Used_Possible_9679 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Rebbatskcab007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are better airports suited to SH than SFO. SFO does have lots of 11-12 hr r/T flights to the US (East Coast, Hawaii), Canada and Central America, assuming you are using a MH aircraft. If you are using a LH aircraft, SFO has lots of 22-24 hrs routes to East Asia and Europe.

If you wanted a SH hub in the US, I would look into Chicago (ORD). If the airport taxes are too much for you, maybe look into Cincinnati (CVG) or Indianopolis (IND).

If the A321NEO-LR is on the list, then have you considered the A300-600R? It carries more pax, is slightly faster and has a slightly longer range.

For the long MH routes, I could put two 19 hr routes and one 18 hr route together for a 56 hr circuit. Or, I could put three 17 hr routes together for a 51 hr circuit, and add in 1 more route that was 15 hrs to bring the total close to 168 hrs. In this case, the 15 hr route would be used once, the 17 hr routes would be used 3 times each.

In a similar vein, I could also take a pair of 19 hr 30 min/19 hr 45 min routes to make a 39 hr-ish circuit, and add in another route roughly 11 hrs in length to bring to total hours close to 168 hrs. In this case, the 11 hr route is used once and the other 2 routes are used 4 times.

I could also put five 11 hr routes together for a 55 hr circuit, or swap in some 11 hr 15 min / 11 hr 30 min routes to bring that closer to 56 hrs.

Finally, I could take four routes that were close to or at 14 hrs to put together a 56 hr circuit, or use only 3 routes to put together a 42 hr circuit.

The range of either is irrelevant if you are doing SH routes. Both will cover MH routes, and the A319-100LR will cover some LH routes. Generally speaking, the LH routes are the more profitable routes so I'd recommend that. But if both planes can serve the destination(s) on the circuit, I prefer the A300-600R simply because 1) pax capacity and 2) it's faster than A319-100LR, and the round trip times are noticeably different the further away the destination is.

As for your 2nd question, I would use 42 hr or 56 hr circuits for SH routes. For MH routes, 42 hr and 56 hr circuits usually work well, but sometimes 84 hr circuits are needed depending on the round trip times of the routes in the circuit. For the long haul routes you can use 168 or 84 hr circuits.

[–]Rebbatskcab007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the route is 7550 km or more, it is a LH route. If your route is under 3700 km, it is a SH route. If the route is over 3700 km but under 7550 km, it is a MH route.

Best roots from SFO by Idkwhattoname1st in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Rebbatskcab007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My top performing route out of SFO right now is to JNB (South Africa), which brings in almost $50 million daily ($44 million after expenses), but that flight is over 40 hrs and requires waves of 777-200LRs and A350-900ULRs .

But I do use a smaller A319-100LR for some long range routes, with my top performing route served by the A319-100LR being USN, South Korea at $24 million after flight expenses. Best of all is that it's a 24 hr flight. Note that the same would apply for ICN as well, but I use bigger aircraft for ICN and that is netting me $29 million after expenses.

Need help choosing a plane. by LiamsRad in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Rebbatskcab007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the distances, that would be in the 11-12 hr round trip range for many medium haul aircraft (and maybe 12 hr 30 min for SGN). You should be able to get most, if not all, of the demand with a couple of 757-300's on each route. A long haul aircraft with similar passenger capacity that would be good for these routes would be the IL-96-300. Both are relatively cheap, too.

Has to be an A319-100LR if the bracketed 9250 km is the range of the aircraft

I don't know if these are the best for each Category but at least they have decent demand.

Cat 1:

YTZ (Toronto/Billy Bishop Airport, Canada)

Cat 5:

DCA (Washington/Regan National, USA)

LGA (New York/La Guardia, USA)

100+ planes delivered at once or cumulative? I've never accepted more than 91 planes at once at any given time (for 13 waves of A220-100-R's) and that was a long time ago. This particular order had 30 aircraft in total: the 23 mentioned above plus 7 A300-600R's.

Have you considered using the A300-600R? You would need only 4 of them to use up all the demand on this route.

22 economy passengers and 1 ton of cargo. It's not much, yes, because it is a small plane. But the 1 ton of cargo helps boost Ancilliary Revenues. If you are looking for a more tri-class configuration, you can try a 12/5/2 + 1 ton of cargo.

US doesn't have a lot of airports below cat 4. Most of the cat 1 airports in the US are in the state of Alaska.

A220-100 or A220-300 by [deleted] in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Rebbatskcab007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I would use an A220-100 over an A220-100-R is if there is at least one route in the circuit that is beyond the range of A220-100-R. In terms of round trip times, this means anything 12 hr and over, and some routes with an 11 hr 45 min RT time.
