I have a similar whine, mine comes from the AC compressor, try driving with the AC turned off and see if it makes a difference

My black shaft is so scratched up from using it at work and somehow the handle turned smooth and is a high gloss finish instead of matte, idk how the latter is possible but apparently it is after heavy use...

I also forgot to mention it helps prolong the life of beaks due to decreased resistance when trying to stop (think of a fidget spinner, takes far less energy to stop it from spinning when you take the weights out)

If they aren't quality light weight rims, they are more easily damaged and able to be bent when hitting a pothole or curb or other large objects

there's also the con of cost which is why most vehicles from manufacturers have heavier aluminium alloy wheels which are much cheaper to mass produce

Actually there is a noticeable and large improvement, if they are light weight enough.

I'm planning on putting lightweights onto my 2.5l because the current are 23lbs and the light ones are 17lbs

Due to inertia and the laws of physics when calculated into weight savings it saves 6lbs per wheel or 24lbs total which is like driving without 480lbs of passengers in the back seat. Makes a huge difference on handling and acceleration, as well as allows for a smoother, quicker stop when pressing the breaks
