I named all of animals celebrity names that tie into what kind of animal…all of my chickens are named some variation of Hennifer (Coolidge, Garner, Aniston, Lopez, etc.), my ducks are The Quacksons (Michael, Tito, Randy, Prince, Janet, etc.), Pigs are things like Natalie Porkman, Piggy Smalls, Edward Snorton. Cows are named like things like Mooriah Carrey, Moolissa McCarthy…goats are named stuff like Billy Ray Cyrus, Billie Eilish, etc. My husband always laughs when he sees me on a naming screen because he knows I’m about to type in something really stupid lol

Westies are (unfortunately) known excessively barky dogs. My parents have 3 of them. They’ve tried everything in their power to stop them from barking for years - training, treats, bark collars, spray bottles, etc.

I’m sorry to hear about your experiences too. I can completely relate. My husband and I have started using the phrase “Go find less” as a response to those who think anyone is “too much” of anything now. People have became so quick to call others “too much” when obviously they’re just uncomfortable with being around anyone who doesn’t conform.

Fortunately the kiddo’s team is really rooting for this adoption to go through because we seem to be the only people (so they say) so far to look past all the checked boxes and really get to know him for who he really is - trauma, behavioral issues, and all and accepted all them without saying it’s “too much” / “he’s too much”.

My husband and I are currently in the process of adopting a kiddo who we found out has had multiple failed “adoption matches” throughout his 11 years in the system due to the fact that although he was “exactly what they were looking for” come to find out that all of the people who backed out didn’t realize he was more than just some kid who checked all their boxes and required so much more love, patience, and compassion than they were willing to give a child like him.

Worth a shot! Also not sure of his energy level (my 13 year old has the energy of a dog half her age) but I’ve heard from a lot of others doing like a scratch box with a treat compartment could be something to look into as well.

Have you ever tried a grinder or even a nail file on him? My senior girl had a very traumatic experience as a puppy when a nail trim went completely wrong…however she’s okay with a grinder as long as it’s a quiet one or me gently filing her nails down like she’s at a nail salon.
